Went through that with my Ma a couple of years ago. Keep the faith... and ensure you give yourself permission to rest.

it's a tuff job when your 600 kms away, to bad it isn't summer and I could make all these trips on the Drifter

I had my turn several years ago with my dad. We were very close and I although I lost him I could rest easy that there was nothing left unsaid between us. Its always tough when the circle of life comes around and the child takes care of the parent. Good luck Tim.
