Title: SOLVED: What was the original color?
Post by: 2beers on February 07, 2014, 12:25:02 PM
Just curious.  Princess was either Sky Blue or Pearl Burnish Beige originally.  Any way to tell from the VIN?  Or any other ideas?

I'd look at the inside of the rear fender. Most people won't paint that part. My 2 tone factory paint is 2 tone inside the fender, too. A quick look at the inside of the chain access panel might be a place to look!

Thanks Troll.  Inside my fenders are repainted too.  Hmmm.  I'll check for that panel this weekend.

Also check inside the front disc brake cover.

Good idea, but also repainted.  No complaints about the job the former owner did on the paint, that's for sure!
That's a thought...I'll contact him and see if he knows, but I think it was already repainted red before he did this paint job.

Thanks!

Hope your PO can help.  If not try to scrape a little red paint off the inside of one of your panels.  You might luck out.

Curiosity Satisfied!

The PO replied to my email, Princess was originally a Pearl Burnish Beige.  I can't explain why I felt I needed to know that, but now I do  :)

Are you going to paint it back to stock? I've thought of repainting mine, but think I will wait until it needs repainting, then paint it the same (stock) color, black and oxblood.

No, I really love the paint she has.  Was just one of those questions I thought I need answered, lol.  I like it that she was the Beige, since we have a Sky Blue in the garage.  Just a girl thing, I guess!

Oxblood and Black is gorgeous, btw...

Those mirrors are long, but he likes them  :).  He has visors now on his signals and spots with visors, too, and more details that I didn't realize weren't included in that pic!  Thanks for the compliment...Yep, I need more visors, and my seat recover, and new mud flaps.  Never ending list lol!
