They are about four inches high and they have been introduced in every town and village in Britain.

we see them sometimes in parking lots, or some pedestrian walks. I assume they don't want those careless "bikers" to run over people coming down hill. I am happy to see they haven't required training wheels on bicycles yet. ::)
That's how it started here, private lots, shopping centres, we probably sell more vehicle suspension in Britain than you sell in the entire USA as a direct result of these..You generally get the same laws that increase costs that we do so here's another that might soon come your way..It is illegal in Britain to park a vehicle on a road or street or public car park unless it is licenced, taxed, insured and has a current certificate of roadworthyness (MOT) that means you can't repair or store a vehicle on the road in front your house.

We have a "pathway" here in the city, and along the water front it is supposed to be the left side of the road is for bicycles, roller bladers and joggers. The ride is for people to just walk and take it easy, but you have the dog walkers with the 5mile long retractable leashes to deal with .....lol no you just can not win some days.
But speed bumps for this is sounding really like a dumb a$$ idea.
We have these on most main roads through towns, they are primarily for automobiles, cars, trucks, buses, ambulances, the idea is to slow you down enough so that if you hit a pedestrian you just bump them out of the way, the reason this one made the news is because they are not normally used for bicycles..
We have had them for at least ten years now I wonder why you haven't got them yet..

We have speed bumps...or sleeping policemen, here, too. They usually don't put them so close together,though. Lately, they have been putting in what they call speed tables. Much wider that the speed bumps, like 10' or so and flat on the top so you have to go up a hill, and then down another one. I usually manage to avoid them completely with the bike because they don't extend all the way to the curb, only in the normal "driving" area of the road, and sometimes they have a space in the middle of the road, on the line.
Yeah but in the USA, if they are placed in the wrong place they will "evaporate". And, of course, we always have our roving ambulance chasers looking for another pay day.

That's just crazy. 14 of them in a row?
That type of speed bump arrangement would be illegal in the USA, assuming this was also a pedestrian walkway. Needs to be handicap accessible!

never thought of that...and nothing funny about the amount of obese people, but them large people who ride around in them little scooters and carts rather then walking, and they don't give you any leeway in the malls or walkways.....lol imagine one of them when the scooter gets away one them on one of them....lol.....it would be funny.......
