Title: 444 Series Progressive Shocks… anyone?
Post by: jagered on January 25, 2014, 11:56:35 AM
Hey all... looking to upgrade my suspension with this years tax return; however, the 440 Series that Chief and others have mentioned they use are no longer available... goes from 430 Series to the new 444 Series.

So wondering who has the new ones and how they like them?
Thanks!

I have them and I think they are great! Significant upgrade! I purchased them from Eastern Motorsports and they were > $80 cheaper than any of the other sites.

I've been called a pretty fart smeller.....

Hey, I checked out the Progressive website, and they still show both the 430 and the 444, as well as the 412 available for the 1500.

In the description, the 444 appears to be maybe a more advanced version.  Says it has Frequency Sensing Technology.  Sounds great.

Another difference....  about $125.  The 444 are quite a bit higher than the 430s, at least on their site.

If I was in the market, I think I'd want to call their customer service to see what they recommend.

Yeah, but the 440 is no longer listed - apparently replaced by the 444.

I have them on my 1500, they are great. See my write up: http://cruiser.mototribe.com/reviews/smooth-riding-shocks . I also put the springs on the front: http://cruiser.mototribe.com/progressive-suspension-progressive-rate-fork-springs-reviews/sprung-action . I am very happy with them.

My bad - misread the first post...

well... still considering the move to the 444's, but recently flushed out and refilled the shocks.

For what I have read... 225mL seems to be the full point for oil, I got roughly 125-130mL out of each.  I put in roughly 150mL and set air around 50PSI.  I still need to get out and try them hoping that renewed oil was the trick to stop or at least minimize the bottoming out!

This winter weather crap really needs o go away!!!  thanks for any/all advice... if this does not do the trick, 444's here I come!
