Was talking to a buddy who has a H-D and is running white walls, he picked up a product called "Scrub Daddy". Seen it on Shark Tank, never thought of using it on the white walls, but he said it worked really well, so anyway Amazon.com will not ship them to Canada. So I can not test them, but am going to order some from someplace to test them, if anyone can get them and try them out let us/ let me know. Thanks........
Ratman it's funny you mentioned cleaning the white walls today . I just finished cleaning one side of my front tire and dude I'll be honest there's nothing easier to use than Mr. Clean Magic Eraser . There cheap as well ;)
That's way too much work! I do mine in about 5 minutes and the only thing I have to do is bend over.
You'll need some Westley's Bleche White (I get mine at the dollar store for about $3 a bottle), a hose, and broom with long bristles.
First, wet the tires (I do both sides, front and back, at the same time), then spray the Westley's Bleche White over all the parts showing from under your fenders. Now take the broom and scrub the tire a bit. Lastly, use the hose and spray it off. A Drifter takes 3 rolls to go all the way around the tire. The whole job takes about 5 minutes and your wide whites are glowing! No crawling around on the floor, not much elbow grease, just nice clean tires.......though you will have to bend over a little to reach the back tire if you have saddlebags.
PC, I have a method that uses even less energy/bending over than your method.......I get the wife to do it! ;D :o
and get some Mother's chrome cleaner and spray the wheels before you clean the tires and when you rinse the tires, rinse the wheels and everything will be clean and shiny...no scrubbing necessary. 8)
So is this the stuff?

Guess this subject is all about preference and personal experience . I'll tell ya my front www was filthy with grease finger prints and all . With very little effort at all Mr. Clean took everything off . I've never tried anything else sense owning my www so to me this is my preference . I'm going to have to try that mothers chrome on the rims itself . I just tried the pledge and boy do they shine . I still have some hard to reach areas on the spokes that are a little gritty , though . Won't hurt to try something new on the rims ::)
I was just wondering if anyone used Scrub daddy, and I really like Mr. Clean Magic eraser and it is really simple to use, I never have to bend down to clean my tires either. Never did the chrome cleaner but will try it.
Never did hear of this Westley's Bleche White, ok supposed to be available at Canadian Tire so will go and check in the morning......
but tire cleaning is really easy no need to even move the bike.....that is why we have sinks in the house to wash things in.......

So you use a broom, like a straw broom - floor broom? Would something like a long-handled scrub brush work??
I've been using Wesley's Bleche-white since I was a kid on white walls and white-letter tires. works great and doesn't require much effort, just a little scrubbing. I usually use a short handled brush like one in the pic, except short handled. Seems like the long handle might cut down on the pain-in-the-back part.

I suppose you could use a straw broom, but I don't imagine it'd hold up too well with the spokes and all. I use a floor broom. The kind with the nylon bristles that are all frayed on the ends. The nice long handle is a real back saver. I get the Wesley's Bleche-White worked into the rims and spokes, and of course the tires, then just hit it with the hose......easy as pie!
Went to Canadian Tire and they have a whole hockey sock full of mothers products but not that one and nothing Wesley's...so going to shop around for them.....
I used that on other white walls years ago and found that it yellowed them over time. So I stopped using it.
Hmmm, that's strange. My front tire was put on in the beginning of '09 and I' wash it at least once a week through the riding season and I've not had that problem. Wonder if they changed the formula?
I have been going nuts because I too have not been able to find the " Westley's " bleach white. It is now made by another company and does not work well at all. I use to use it on the White walls on my 1939 Packard so I know exactly what nit is. Not available even on Amazon.com. It comes up something else.

Apparently, it is no longer available as "Westley's", and now is "Black Magic" Bleche Wite. From what I can gather, it is no longer what it used to be, so I guess I wouldn't bother trying to find some, unless you find some old "Westley's". Reviews/comments I've found say it isn't much good now.

So because everyone has said the Mr Clean Maghic eraser is so great I went and bought it. I spent better part of an hour scrubbing away on my white walls and yes they are clean but it does NOT remove the yellowing on the outer edge of the white wall. So please tell me what I am doing wrong. A lot of work with less than pleasing results. I want a product that will make them white!!
WOW !!!! A better part of an hour ??? Those tires must have been REALLY BAD ::) I had grease from my chain one time all over my rear tire , and the eraser took it off no problem at all . As for the yellowing my tires are only two yrs old so I'm not to sure what your solution is to the fix . I would have thought MR. Clean would solved this issue with no problem at all ?
They had a full season of riding. I had used Westley's but the bottle was dry. Bought the black Magic stuff, no good so as per everyone tried the Magic eraser. Still yellow. I am stumped. I guess I will try some clorox or ajax next to try and get the yellow out. They are clean as a whistle except for the yellowing.
ok I bought my tires last winter, used the Mr. Clean Magic eraser to clean them to remove the blue stuff from the new tires. I did no real scrub cleaning all summer other then a couple of wash with a soft brush and rinse the soap off. So this winter I removed the wheels off the bike for maint. and I used the Mr. Clean and they came nice and clean in a matter of a few mins. each side.
MarshallDoll not sure of the yellow because I too do not have yellow on my tires as of yet. I too have had grease on the tires from working on them and the Mr. Clean did a wonderful job on cleaning it off, not sure if there is a product that will make your tires really white again. I need to look into that now....

How about an old fashion SOS steel wool pad. That's all I ever used on my car tires.
Works the same today as it did yesteryear...

An SOS pad with the soap in it will work, but it's tough on the finish.
I wonder how some Bar Keepers Friend would work?
Bar Keepers Friends just might not want to leave the bar to come and help you clean the tries on your bike......how are you going to get them to come out offer them beer?

OOO That has to be a good secret. Mr Cleans magic eraser... I didn't think of that before... such a good use.

I've used Comet cleanser, Simple Green, Castrol Purple, SOS, and regular wheel cleaners but Westly's worked the best when you could find it.
