Ok, I am having a trusted shop install new tires, and will leave it with them if I want more work done. The gorgeous beast has 27,000 on her. Are there any parts I should have replaced or inspected really well? Everything seems ok now, but I wasn't sure about wheel bearings, drive shaft, steering bearings, zerk fitting, etc. I will probably have them do the front spring mod for sure.

8)of course you are putting WWW on that fantastic ride of yours and not wussing out with just black tires......how boring....and no cleaning of black tires....how boring......if you are having them replace the tires have them also look close at all the bearings and such while they have the rims off because you are paying for that time anyway
You'll want to have them tighten any loose spokes and true the rims.
Also, get new rim strips and tubes.....it's cheap insurance.
The drive shaft is supposed to be lubed every 7,500 miles, but honestly, most people go much further before they do it. I know one guy who didn't do it until he hit 75,000 miles and he said his looked great when he opened it up. I've gone 25,000 between lube jobs and had no problems. It's your call.
It's also your call if you want them to lube the swing arm or not, but they're already half way there.
I always whack a handful of grease on the splines when I have the wheel off, it takes less than two minutes to do while the wheel is off.

The air. In the tires. Make sure they use NEW air - and not the old, stale, worn our air. ;D
It's also the perfect time to inspect everything like the brake pads, bearings, rear coupler hub, chain & sprockets and all, but that stuff should be a no-brainer for them. Good time for a full lube if it hasn't been done.
One thing that might not be a no-brainer - We've been reading a lot about fork bearings going bad on this forum, so I would have them check that while it's up in the air.

I consider the shop I use to be pretty honest, and they supposedly have this air for tires,
a little cheaper than the pure nitrogen sold at some tire shops. They say it has 78% nitrogen. Think I'll go for it. Close enough to 100%, right? :'(

and other then taking the tires off the rims why are you not doing the work? I am too poor to let anyone work on mine.....so I do it and hope I can get it back together.....

Have too many irons in the fire right now for all I want to do....around the house and on the bikes. Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind, and take it apart myself if I get fed up with working on the house and yard.

now GreenBarn is supposed to help me put it back together again......
took the fenders to the shop today and power washed the inside and cleaned them really well.........
Wow, that bike is sure looking freaky today! Don't know if I like the no fender, no wheel look. You must be having a blast, sure is nice to clean those rarely accessed parts/areas isn't it?
Just make sure you keep that first picture handy.... that way when you're putting it back together, you can have a target you're shooting for.... :o
