Title: laugh time.....
Post by: CDNRatMan on September 18, 2013, 19:35:42 PM
Buddy of mine left Calgary AB to travel to New Brunswick and is stopping along the way to visit all his friends and family. So he calls lets me know he is in Thunder Bay (1200 kms away) going to drive none stop till he is here, ok cool. He wants my home address so he can load it to his GPS once he is closer. Calls me 45 mins out, seems he is having issues with his brand new GPS so can I drive out to the highway and met him.......ok cool....

Fantastic visit have not seen him since 1990 when we were in Germany together for a tour.  So asked him what was the issue with his GPS. Now this is priceless........
Brand new Garmin (Harley Davidson) GPS made for that bike ....he hit a bump and all the written stuff became Cyrillic........lol.......and he can not read Russian, nor can he spell my street name in Russian, and it would not let him type in English........I tried everything I could think of to get it right but had to give up.
So his first stop will be to a Harley shop and get the thing to understand English......lol........

Did you try taking the batteries out for five minutes so that it would reset itself to let you select language?

did that, turned it off and on and then looked for the voice thingy and tried to figure out what English was in Russian but then it would not go to the list of languages. Turned it off for about 3 hours and after some sleep tried again. Used the H-D web site to fix it and followed their instructions even.

Why do you suppose it was speaking Russian? I would have thought it would be Chinese....(and he takes another cheap shot at H-D).

 -   lol not my GPS so I am not really worried about it other then it was funny.

Not sure if I told this story, but when in Kingston I went to the H-D / Honda shop to look for a handlebar mount for a GPS. The young lady I got to deal with was all of and must have been a relative of one of the higher ups. If you wanted anything for a Honda it had to be ordered. For the H-D's they had some in stock, but all H-D GPS mounts are in the fairings, because they are all model specific. ever figured that out so let it go and bought it else were.

This is part of a Communist plot.  The Reds will never give up, just because the cold war is over.  Putin has set himself up as an old-school Soviet dictator, bent on world domination.  What happened is that they activated Skynet, which is starting to take over all electronic devices, especially those that use satellite links.  It won't be long now that our TVs will also start speaking in Russian.  They will take over all cable TV service and we'll be slaves to the Soviets.

DC, did you borrow Ratman's tin hat...or maybe you should. Who really believes the cold war is over? As far as SkyNet goes, we already have the H-K Drones....

The Cold War is not over.  It just took a brief vacation during Glasnost (Gorbachov) and when Yeltsin was too drunk to even know what was going on.  But Russia is far from our worst enemy.  All we need to do is to look within.

If I remember correctly, we both lived just a few miles from Norad during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Norad was at the top of the list of places the Soviets had targeted for direct nuclear strikes, since it was our primary Command and Control facility for coordinating nuclear attacks and air defenses.  The Soviets also got wind of the fact that we had a Stargate stored in Cheyenne Mountain and saw that as a strategic threat to them.  We know this because the Goa'uld had made contact with them.

I went to Cheyenne Elementary, just a few miles from Cheyenne Mountain.  Remember - - DUCK AND COVER!
