Title: DIY SOLO SEAT
Post by: chrisdrift on September 10, 2013, 13:26:15 PM
Hi
As i like modifications instead of buying, I am wondering if anybody cut the original saddle down to a solo seat?
Maybe its possible...

Or if You can recommend where to buy a nice bolt on solo seat.

I've never seen that done, but please keep us posted with pictures if you undertake this project.

Here is a nice Singh solo on this board.

Cobra makes a nice solo seat; as well, the stock Drifter solo seat is pretty nice.

Or buy a cheap old Nomad or Vulcan Classic 1500/1600 solo seat, do some small modification on the front seat mounting, do a new upholstering and you are ready to go. See also http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/nomadseat.html

I cut down my original 2 up, down for a weekend. It worked ok. I hacked off the back plastic, pitched the foam after a couple of try's at shaping it and went with a light layer of sound deadener instead, then stapled the covering back on. Better do some squats and get those butt muscles in shape if your going with no foam. ;D
