Title: Vulcan classic pipes on drifter??
Post by: Nanook on July 08, 2013, 22:23:59 PM
Would Vance Hines pipes for a 2005 vulcan 800 classic fit on a 1999 drifter 800?

Thanks for your quick reply.

Well....got no answer....so missed the opportunity I had. Finally found that they could probably fit with slight modification to the brackets, so I'm now looking for a set of Vulcan Vances & Hines Cruzers.

I know 1500 classic pipes fit drifter (and is the preferred method of attaching) with a simple footpeg change. I honestly don't know if that is also the case with the 800... someone have an 800 they'd like to donate so I can play with it and learn this stuff???  <crickets>... about what I figured...  8)

I bought some used pipes from a cycle salvage place. The pipes were off a Classic 800 Vulcan. I had the fella cut the mufflers off and send me just the pipes and shields. They did bolt up on the jugs, but the angle on the pipes were not the same as the Drifter 800. The rear pipe touched the side cover and the front pipe angles towards the floorboard. I wanted to make a pair of custom Fishtail pipes to hang on my Drifter 800 but didn't work out the way I planned. So the anwser is no, the pipes off the 800 Classic will fit the jugs, but will need to be bent to accomodate the RH side cover and the RH floorboard.
