Title: Fuel tank interchangeability
Post by: artyking on June 24, 2013, 19:37:58 PM
Does anyone know if the fuel tanks through the years Drifter 800's were made are interchangeable...ie. - '03 tank on a '05? I'm thinking the only difference is color but not sure if all the guts, nuts and bolts are the same. PO dropped it and the repair on the tank isn't the greatest, thinking if the cost is cheaper to replace than properly fix I may do that instead, as well as maybe the fenders to match.

Thanks!

I just go to BikeBandit and look up parts...I'm pretty sure that all the 800's...classic, etc. are probably going to be the same. I'll look and get back to you......

Guys, don't forget about the vn800a or as some folks refer to as the "Custom" will also interchange.

Bike Bandit discontinued it's interchange feature, so I started using Partzilla.com (never bought anything, but do use their website).  The trouble with tank interchange is each tank will have a different part number, not because the tank is different, but because the paint color is.  So tracking down years becomes a visual thing, Head to Ebay and hope for good pictures.
