Title: More Tank Badjes
Post by: jmbo on June 07, 2013, 09:33:32 AM
So after pumping out a dozen or so new tank badge graphics I think i finally came up with the badge for my '99 1500. I hooked up with a site in India producing robop parts for Royal Enfields.  I found a section on the site where they reproduced parts in solid brass. So I ordered a pair of cast badges for a'57 Enfield. Plans are to modify the Enfield insert to read "Drifter" in Indian script.  Here is a photo of what I hope it will look like.  More to come when I get the real thing.

That's nice JMBO.  The biggest fly in the ointment for me, with the solid metal badge, was that the badge did not fit the contour of the tank very well.  So at that point options are 1) making a spacer to fit, to fill up the openings   or 2) custom fit (i.e. bend) the badge to fit the tank.  Luckily my badge was soft enough to do the latter.

I'm not sure that brass will lend itself to fitting it to the tank, so I'll be interested to know how this pans out.  Please keep us informed, as I'm sure you will.

Thanks Greenbarn. My hope is that the brass casting will be soft enough to form to the right contour.  Most of the Indian brass Ive seen is pretty malleable.  That's the hope anyway.
