What's a fair price for an excellent condition 800 Drifter, 2004, with under 5000 miles, Corbin dual plus stock seat and windscreen?
Go to kbb.com and put in the info they ask for, and then add a little since they usually shoot low.
I think it depends on your location.
A seller in the Houston area would be asking between 4-5k for a 2004 Drifter 800 in similarity.
Not saying he will get it but that would be a starting price.

X2. Mine is a 2002, 15000 mi, that's about where I would start.
Based on my zip code (since I don't know yours) http://www.kbb.com/motorcycles/kawasaki/vn800-e4-vulcan-800-drifter/2004-kawasaki-vn800-e4-vulcan-800-drifter/suggestedretailvalue/
The prices above are correct but consider this..
The Drifter is not built for speed, it is built for looks..It was built on a chance that went slightly wrong because it was a copy of the original Indian Chief..It has all the looks and none of the difficulties, you park it and everyone looks at it twice, then they talk about it to their friends..
Kawasaki had to pay a fee to Indian for the fenders and they won't be making any more..
If you sell this bike, you will be one of those looking at someone else's bike and saying 'I used to have one of those'
John.
Good point, John. Every time I ride it-like today -- I wonder why I'm even thinking about selling.
One other thing. Though it is not built for speed i find it to have excellent roll on power.

+100% agree with you
;) got to agree with Laird Hopkins on this one........I have had bikes and have had a few that I really remember with a fondness, but so far the one I really like the best has been my Drifter.
the first summer I had it I rode to Kingston ON to vist my sister and her husband they have a H-D glide classic something all decked out. We went for a ride and ended up downtown on a hot Sat afternoon, hundreads of people out, tourists all over the city, downtown core, all the bistro's and little cafe's, we parked and went to get a bite to eat. My little Drifter 800 parked next to this huge H-D with everything but the kitchen sink......and what was the main draw.....my little sunbeam red Drifter....lol........
After 50 years of motorcycling (did I say that...it looks pretty scary written out), and owning everything from a 1946 EL, a '65 BSA Thunderbolt, various FLH and FLT H-D, and a wonderful V-65 Sp Moto Guzzi, I believe I have finally found the bike I want to keep forever. The next owner of my Drifter will have to get it from my estate...Just my opinion, for what it's worth...I owned the last 2 Harleys I sold when I bought the Drifter for 15 and 31 years respectively.

I'm in the same boat. Always owned Harleys (after some Brit bikes)... this was my first metric. Now I have this and the Goldwing?! I will likely sell/trade the GW before I retire... for another GW or something similar that my wife can tolerate (she has MS). But the Drifter is here as long as I am.
I am with Chief on this one. I have a 1500 Goldwing and a 05 600cc Silverwing (Maxi Scooter type) and the Drifter is my newest bike. I am having a tough time giving up the Goldwing, but I will be 60 years old in a few days, and I know there will come a time when the Goldwing will be too heavy. So I am considering letting the Goldwing go.
Now it will probably be a dog fight to figure out which one goes after that. The Silverwing is a step through design, so when I tire of throwing my leg over the saddle, the Drifter would probably go. The way I feel now, is that I have my last motorcycle in the sable. However, If I found a good deal on a Drifter 1500, I would probably have one of those too.
Who really knows, but I would have a great case of seller's remorse if I sold the Drifter.
only one to to say.....60 WOW.......someday in the distant future.....
