Title: Locktite - which one?
Post by: niccho on May 07, 2013, 17:25:52 PM
I am looking into putting the cam chain tensioner extenders on and just want to make sure I buy the right stuff,

In the sticky it says, use high temp red locktite, now I am assuming Locktite threadlocker #272 is meant by that, correct?

Does anybody have some retailer suggestions? (Amazon only carries the big 36ml bottle for over $25)

I think this is what you're looking for: http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/t_lkr_red/overview/Loctite-Threadlocker-Red-271.htm

I can get it at the local hardware store, home supply store, or even Walmart.

yes, that one even says "engine" on it. but it says nothing about high temperature..like it was mentioned in the sticky..

if off brand, then I'd probably use this instead
http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-27200-Hiigh-Temperature-Threadlocker/dp/B000HBIB8K/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1368135761&sr=8-16&keywords=permatex+lock+sealant (http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-27200-Hiigh-Temperature-Threadlocker/dp/B000HBIB8K/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1368135761&sr=8-16&keywords=permatex+lock+sealant)

hopefully someone who has actually worked on the cam chain tensioner will chip in
