Title: Turn signal
Post by: michaelh42 on May 04, 2013, 18:32:27 PM
So Yesterday I noticed my new rear turn signal loose and almost hanging. I was out on a ride to work so I quickly tightened it by hand as hard as I could. I figured when I got to work I would use a wrench and finish tightening it...... Nope..... got home last night and realized not only did the nut back completely off but the turn signal was gone... wires snapped...  Looks really bad now. Just ordered a new one from BikeBandit.com guess my ride to work tomorrow will look a little silly but I need to ride. Will take a pic later and post.

That's weird that it would just fall off...don't forget to hand signal when turning left.  ;D

$45.99 for the rear signal. They don't have the part number listed. it is LAMP-ASSY-SIGNAL,RR 791814.  They have been great a quick shipping and have not had any issues with them. Free shipping over $100. That is usually easy... ::)

Would have been a good time to get two front signals and turn them into running lights.

I need a new RR turn signal housing too.  The chrome is peeling/flaking off of the plastic.

Just curious, would those plastic housings be paintable?  Eventually, if possible, I want to get more of the chrome-finished plastics painted to match the ivory on the fenders and tank.

You can paint them, but you need to scuff them real good to get the paint to stick.  An etching primer would be good too, but nothing so hot it would melt the plastic.  Stick with enamels, not lacquers.
