Title: Seat stay question
Post by: Petemoss on March 18, 2013, 21:44:23 PM
Help me to understand the parts I need to purchase for a two-up seat.
Aside from the seat and passenger floorboards/pegs what parts do I need to buy and are they sold in a complete set?

It looks like to me, I need the following parts.

35011A
32046
132A x2
92210 x2
92015A

Now, part 92151, is that the same bolt I already own and use for the saddlebag brackets?
And what is "ref. seat"?

92210 is for the grab rail.  They attach to 92151B in this pic: http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID/26/Type/Motorcycle/MakeID/3/Make/Kawasaki/YearID/42/Year/2001/ModelID/2933/Model/Vulcan_1500_Drifter/GroupID/70600/Group/Optional_Parts

As far as 92151 (different then 92151B & 92151A.....how's that for confusing?) goes, I have 2 different length bolts on each side for the 2up setup.  That's because on the F&S saddlebag brackets there's a perch on one bolt, so it needs to be a bit longer to seat properly.  The Solo Saddle & Double Saddle pics in this link are from my bike, and you can see the difference (grab rail is not shown): http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/oemsbsetup.html

Always look over in the Mods/Tips on the web site...

Specifically...

Many of these pieces aren't required, but may be desired. Not all are available. You WILL need the seat stay.

Pc, I have the same set up as you. Two different length bolts.
Cheif, the stay and bracket are the only required parts?
I have the passenger floorboards and I'm not interested in the grab rail. Are these the optional parts your talking about?

Pc, I think I see 92151 A and B. are these the third bolt just above 92151?

Yep, don't need the grab rail.

if you have the footpegs worked out...

Seat Stay, Seat Bracket, various nuts and bolts  - you still need the angle brackets from your solo seat to attach the seat to the frame.

Did I read somewhere you were having these made to stock in the store?

Okay, this is what I ordered

35011A
92015A
32046
132A x2

The stay and the bolt that bolts (I think) to under the seat.
The bracket and the two bolts to attach the brackets to the stay.

I think this covers it...
