Title: High cost of riding..
Post by: John Hopkins on March 14, 2013, 13:20:19 PM
I'm getting ready for a longish ride and I needed 3" cut off each saddle bag bracket and the bottom bit welded back on so the ledge at the bottom clears the exhaust enough to keep the bags cool, I also needed a couple of new brackets to hold the windshield to the tapered forks, I had cut out a paper template..

Local bike shop..HOW MUCH..£10 the lot..About $15..

In that case, you know what I'd do (and have done in the past)?  I'd ask for a handful of his business cards and make sure he knows I'm going to be handing them out!

A gift card to his favorite coffee shop goes a long ways too; shows appreciation.

I am real big on supporting my local shop.
The more I do with them, the cheaper I get things.

With the price of amsoil and the price of the filter  at the local autozone, running me about $65
I think him charging me only $60 plus tax is a good deal, including labor for the oil change..

And he drained and replaced the rear drive lube this last time, no charge.

He also has a 24/7 roadside service , within 100 miles (one way) they will come pick up you and the bike for $70 max.

Over 100 miles one way, price on request.

I have not had to use them, but I tell all my friends, and have their number on my favorites in my phone..

Great people, ...

There are a couple of place I deal with on a regular basis and I show up most times with a tray of coffee and timbits for them, and they make it known that they appreciate it.

49 one day I'll tell you about my letter to the City Council to raise my taxes......you would like it.....funny they never got back to me....
