Hello All,
There's a 2001 Drifter 1500 for sale nearby, the owner claims the ODO stopped working several thousand miles ago and he was quoted $300 for the repair.
Now, I'm a bit leery of buying the bike in the first place. But, if I get it at a good price, what could be wrong? It seems the sensor is OK as the speedometer works fine, so will it require a new instrument cluster?
Thanks for the help on the hypothetical,
jkpq45
Yeah, that piece is p/N - 28011-1214 and it has an MSRP of about $320. Runs about $250 on ronayers.com
There are also shops that repair them. You forgot to mention how many miles it had on it when it broke.
This is a digital odometer. Do the other digital functions on that readout still work, or no? (time and trip odometer)
No display on the LCD crystal at all, for any function.
She states it had 13K on the ODO when it went out, but that was according to the last owner. Her family put "Maybe 5K" on it since buying it. So conservative estimate is 25K miles currently.
It's the '01 on Craigslist in Senatobia, MS. She won't budge from $3800--I passed as I'm coming from KC.

JK, Took a look at the Craigslist posting... Looks like there's some pretty good extras on that bike... If it's running that's not a bad price if you can get it for $3,800 IMHO

Yep, I liked the bike, it's just not the perfect "oxblood/cream" combo I've been questing after.
This one will go to another good home, I'm sure.
I live about 60 miles from senitobia, that bike was for sale last year in the memphis craigslist.
(not too far up the road).
lots of extras as you say.
45 Bravo
If there is no display at all it could be just the power supply wire has come loose or the ground is not connected properly..That is a zero cost fix..another thing could be the lcd connection..If someone bought that to me I could probably fix it and I am sure you must have plenty of electronic technicians or even TV engineers who can fix it locally..
John.
That's kinda what I was getting at.....
I see it has a tank bib on it; so the dash has been off, possibly the owner bumped the connection or otherwise compromised the connection. ???
