Post by: ski.dive on January 06, 2011, 07:35:25 AM
my 2000 drifter 1500 seems to be running hot

the fan comes on very often, any time i drive around at low rpm, [slow moving traffic]

my friend also has a 1500 and his bike runs much cooler?

what can i check?

The only two thing I can think of would be blockage in your radiator or your thermostat is going bad. Gadgets pages has a how to for flushing out the radiator and changing the thermostat .

Mine also comes on when running at slow speeds or rpms but thats what you want because at those times its going to run hotter..if it didn't didn't come on then thats when I would start to worry

I have a 2000 as well and had the same issue right after I got it, I replaced the antifreeze and the problem went away. It looked like the original owner never changed it  >:(
