You just can't scare me into believing 40 degrees in January is not a good thing. Rode 50 miles yesterday... Think I'm going to run the car in the driveway for a hour just to help along with "the warming"...
low of -16*F and 10" of snow ...ypu that is golbal warming here too.....lol ride over to Chilli and see how he is doing for me, worried about him in his senior age and want to make sure he is ok.....would ask you to ride over and check on PC but he is cranky in his old age. I need to remember how to stay nice as I age so when I am as old as them I am not grumpy like them....

AHHHHH,there you go again,PC.It's 45 mile gusts here and freezing cold.Went to help my brother out with his bike for a bit and we had to run the salamander in the garage to stay some what warm :o

It was in the 60's today, took the wife for a ride.
Our first ride together nice the surgeries..
Together we have lost bout 95 lbs.
The bike is happier, takes the rough roads like a champ.
Did about 70 miles today, stopped and saw some friends.
After the ride I checked the DFI fuse, it is sill pristine, and the bike is the same reliable old friend it once was...

Supposed to get pretty cold again here. It's really to bad. That's the bad thing about buying a bike in late fall. You get to stare at it more than ride it. But that's okay, cause damn it looks good.
PC hope you have good weather for more riding, because you deserve it being the nice guy you are.
45 of course you will be a lean mean fighting machine soon and glad you could use your bike as a recovery tool and enjoy it with your spouse.
D1 never be grudge what others have because they just do not understand. Be thankful that they are out riding.......
because like myself and adeyar you too have time to work, reflect on your work and how nice your bike will be once you get out and ride, and enjoy and appriciate what took so long to get to, think of your favorite food.....imagine eating everyday, and loses it place as your favorite, so it is the same with riding, once we get out each and every ride just means that much more to us......think positive......
It's ZERO degrees F outside right now. That's -18 C for Ratman...supposed to go to -24 C over night...global warming??? where?
Mr. Troll Sir, FYI we are into our cold snap now and tomorrow the red stuff is dropping to -40* and it will be there for a few days now...and at the it is the same in both F and C , and for those that don't know it means FRIGGIN COLD, the hairs in your nose freeze and you have a hard time breathing.......but so much fun on a sled running acroos the lake...
Yeah, when it gets that cold, the F and C scales merge...in an attempt yo keep each other warm. What I really hate about that is the ice that forms on your beard...'cause it melts when you come in the house. The coldest I remember was one year when I lived up near Eau Claire...the little red line in the outdoor thermometer disappeared!
I feel realy bad that I can have some others can not, so I am going to be really nice and spread the wealth. I am going to pack up some of this cold and send it to my buddies .....PC and 45 it is coming for both of you.....because I am such a nice person......

The only silver lining I can see is the improvement in heat cost over last year. I've been keeping records of oil consumption vs outside temp since we moved in in '08, and I'm saving about $3 day, and the house temp is 72, rather than the 68 I had it set for when we were burning oil. I'll pass that cold air you sent me, Ratman, on to the other guys, when I'm done with it.

no chaps, (have not bought any, because as big as i was, it would have taken both sides of the cow to make me a set) so my ankles got a little cold.

Rode to work this morning, 24deg. F. beautiful spring morning..
Grabbed the wrong gloves, grabbed the Thinsulate medium weight gloves, not my windproof snow machine gloves..

Run it an extra hour for me please..it has been snowing for a week here and the forecast is for bad weather for another month or more..
Our government scientists are saying that the extreme cold we are having is because the world is heating up and melting the ice..how stupid are they if they don't know the world has been heating up since the last ice age...and before that it was warm enough for dinosaurs..

Oh, right now it's 28F with some snow on the roads, but it's supposed to warm up next week. Tuesday is supposed to be 55F, but rain.
Drift.. the other day you described your location way up in a tree, and I thought, I'd like to see some pics of that, I've done quite a bit of working aloft as we said. There's definately something about it. Top of mast to waterline on the Ship when I was a sailor was around 200 feet . Walking on fiberglass and aluminum about 8 inches wide, underway trying to improve the picture replacing the antenna off the coast of the Carolina's so the Captain can watch the game. I climb utility poles at work now but I've never been up in the tree with my belt and hooks. But I've often wanted to. Thanks for sharing.
PC just for you buddy so you feel better.......outside temps are -8*F with the winds from the WSW at 8 mph and that drops us to a - 24*F and lots of snow so I am going to stay inside tonight and read a good book and watch some tube and relax........weekend is looking good going to get up to a high of 2*F

Chillidrift,yea I've been doing this for the last 15yrs.On occasions I luck out and use a crane to hoist me to the tree tops other wise I'm in spikes and saddle all day majority of the time.Much easier with a crane especially when there's snow or ice on the tree.Keeps me young and somewhat fit..LOL

Nothing wrong with a high teck redneck cooler,that's for sure.I put some snow in a metal garbage can and add 2 bushells of clams the day before being ready to eat and man are they great that way.The clams are always nice and clean,no sand in them.They seem to clean themselves.
Ahhh, clams... Raw, right out of the ocean... all we have here is Mississippi mud clams, and WAY overpriced ones from Red Lobster....What they call clams weren't even legal keepers when I was claming! Anybody have some littlenecks??

Shipping seafood (live) is expensive... which is why I only get a load a couple of times a year. When I lived in Louisiana there were a million places to get seafood right off the boat... even the local Kroger had it. Here in the middle of the country... its a bit more difficult and expensive.
Looks like I'm going to have to spend some money...Thanks for the link. When we were in D.C., we ate at a Joe's Crab Shack, that was way too much to pay for what I got...but it was good. The only crabs around here are the ones you use qwell on.
