I'm looking to add a little bit more character to MA-DEUCE,and really like the defender bumpers.I've read previous post on these and saw that "chonise" (I think was the name?)I'll double check later had made his own rear bumper.Does anyone know if he's still around?I pm him with no response,believe he also is from Canada so he might be busy with the snow like the rest of our northern drifters.I found them on Starklite website,but not sure if the front bumper will fit a Drifter.Any feed back would greatly be appreciated...Thanks fellow Drifters.
Here are pics of my 1999 1500 with the defender bumper. I purchased this from an Indian dealer in Ca. but I googled Indian Defender Bumper to find it. To make it work was another story.

MARSHOLLDOLL,looks great.I take it there was modifications involved with your bumper.Do you also have the front defender bumper,as well?Starklite has the front one for $102.I'm just not sure if It's going to fit.Thank You for the feed back.Oh yea,remember when I first joined the Forum and you sent me a pic of your bike and so forth.......got talking about the shifter from Ted....I have one on It's way from him,bud.Do you know if that Drifter "Cochise" is still making these bumpers?
I actually purchased the front defender bumper as well but decided I didn't like the look of the way it sticks out kindf of squared in front so it is on my shelf.
The rear one I did in fact have to do quite a bit of fabrication to make work but it is a working bumper and not just decorative.
Ted's shifter is great but I didn't like the plain straight black rod linkage so I had a new linkage rod fabricated. Now it looks much nicer. You can see it in this picture. If you like it I can put you in touch with the fellow who made it for me.

Drifter1 are you tlking about front fender guards? If you are hate to say it but I bought mine from Mo-tique, it was really inexpensive looks really good and to install was trally simple.
MARSHOLLDOLL, thanks for the offer on providing the info on your custom shifter bar,I just might take you up on that in the spring.Was the front defender bar hard to install as well? I looked up Starklite again they actually have that for $89,but doesn't say what the actual dimensions are Just shows it on an Indian.If you would like to get that bumper off your shelf give me a price on pm.
RATMAN, the defenders are different then the front rails.What were they going for when MO-tiques was operational?
Drift1 the front defender bumper is just a bit too narrow for out Drifter fender. This is the main reason I didn't use it as well as the squared front look. What I did like is it follows the shape of the front fender. To attach you would have to open it about 1/2" and then you will have to drill 4 holes in the fender for mounting the stantions to hold it. I would suggest taking the front fender off the bike to do this right. Of course you know that on our front fender it will just be decorative because it is attached to the plastic fender and not to anything metal. I am keeping mine but hey if Starklite has it on sale thats great.

MARSHOLLDOLL,aprecciate all the info,my man.Have you ever saw the two metal rails on the front fender.They were used on the early Indians for dress up purposes I would assume.They run on each side of the Indian light.

It is an OEM Kawasaki fender rail. I found it on ebay and paid around $50.00. MARSHOLLDOLL,I've tried both ways (item #) to locate this item,unsuccessful.Gives me the page saying this item has been deleted or is no longer available...blah,blah,blah.That's just my luck geuss.Thanks for all your help though,my man.I'll continue the hunt.Cochise got back to me about the rear bumper,he still has the jig setup,but is having difficulty locating the tubing.The manufacture he was dealing with no longer gets it.

I am happy it worked for you. When you recieve it you will find that the stantions have a center set screw on the bottom. I filed it down so that it was flush with the bottom, then used black silicone for adhering on the fender top. No drilling needed. Mine has been in place quite some time now with no problems.

MARSHOLLDOLL,I received the front top fender rail....looks sweet!I'm sending it out for powder coating before installation.When you put yours on did you just eye it up,or make a template?
I just eyed it up when I put mine on. As I said I used black silicone to attach. No drilling .
