Title: jocky shift
Post by: hilbert77 on November 29, 2010, 18:33:07 PM
Does anybody other than Ted's build a jockey shift? I like his right side look but the left side looks real bulky with that huge bracket? Let me know I man look into doing my own but what like to see others.

Thanks Tom

I'm going to make mine this winter.  I'm in the midst of making a chummie seat 24" long for my 02 800.  On my 3rd attempt but the 2nd will be a shop stool , the first went in the bin. The shifter seems straightforward. I'm going to try aluminum so I can polish it.

Made my side shifter this week. Mostly from bits and pieces around the shop. I went aluminum so I could polish it up. The only parts I bought were the two rod ends and five 3/8" collars. Even if I bought everything I used the cost would have been about $ 60.00 The alum has a bit of 'give' when you move the shifter but although it works its mostly decoration , I'll still use the foot shifter. If it ever stops raining I'll get out to try it out. I saw an old white haired fellow down the road loading animals, two of each kind, onto a boat today. Nah, can't be. Couple pics to show how it turned out.

You Jocky Shifter looks GREAT! How do I go about putting one of these on my 2000 Drifter 800?

Do a writeup with some pics and I'll make a web page in the mods/tips section of the web site.
