Has anyone modified the Rider Solo seat to move it back. I know some may have had the seat shaved, not sure how much that moves position back. Also not sure if the Corbin Solo moves the riding position. Wondering about moving the seat bolts to the frame. Any info or experience would be appreciated. Thanks

Stacko,I've never heard of anyone doing this modification,but if so It's on this forum.My question is what's the need or purpose for the seat movement?Example,are you to tall looking for more leg room,ARM length......?????
be really cautious about the seat bolts, some one else used the wrong ones and wound up gouging their fender. Also not sure why you want to move the seat back, I am using an OME seat and find it bang on for my body frame and I am 5'11". But each to their own and what they want.
I now ride a Roadliner and the seating position works for me. The 800 would be quite a bit closer so moving the seat back is my goal to get more leg room and less knee flex. Not a fan of forward controls as a solution. Thanks.
You can shave the seat back to get some room, but the problem is if you shave very much the cover needs to be reconfigured. If you aren't comfortable with sewing you own, it gets expensive quick. You can get several inches of room, but the cover is the real issue at that point.
If I was going this route, I'd shave the stock seat in the rear and maybe think about dishing it some as well (No sense in doing the job twice). Then try the stock cover (stretched to fit), knowing that I may have to sew a full on custom cover to get the job done. Use the stock cover to gauge where you need to adjust to make the custom cover. Fortunately, the stock seat has lots of foam to work with. ( I did modify my F&S 2up, so I have a little experience in this area. I nosed it, dished it, and added gel pads. It was minimal, so I was able to reuse the cover. )
The true Corbin solo moves back and sits lower by a couple of inches. I found myself wanting just the position as you describe. I got a Corbin solo on here and love it. I'm a little under 6. I put two inch riser in the handlebars. And by rerouting the brake lines and cables I didn't need to replace with longer cables. Honestly, I've seen stock solo seats go for quite a lot. And a nice Corbin solo is expensive. You can certainly modify the frame and such if you really want to move it back. Since the fender is mounted to the swing arm it travels up towards the bottom of the seat.. Definately be careful topay attention to where the fender will travel up to under the bottom of your seat. And use nuts and bolts that are long enough to do the job only if you go to buy hardware. Its your Butt riding on your work, make it good. Take pics if you do it. Good luck. You might also be lucky enough to find another Drifter rider locally who had a true Corbin solo you could swap and go for w ride. Ohio, USA here.
Stacko,I myself am 6' 225....I myself didn't want to go with the forward controls,like yourself.Didn't want to modifie,and risk the chance of paying more money in the long end.I wanted my bike to look more vintage....1940's-50's style....so this became an easy fix for me .I went with a sprung seat set up....3" springs,approximately 3" padded seat that rose my leg room quit a bit....not only did I gain the style I was aiming for,I also have the comfort in the ride...plus I stayed away from the chance of gauging out my back bumper...

Yeah, that's a friend of mines bike. They named it "Olive". Her name is Deb and her husband goes by Hillbilly. They've ridden their Drifters in 49 of the 50 states. Right now Deb is recovering from neck surgery (not bike related). They have 4 Drifters (all blackout bikes) between them.

Yeah, Olive was built by a guy named Flat Top to showcase his company, Cycle Art Engineering. When he was done with it he sold it to Hillbilly & Deb.
