Hi everone,
I finally decided that I am going to buy the serrated Road House dooleys for my bike. I have Hardchrome DD's now but I had an accident and one of the pipes cracked and the manufacturer doesnt have another one to send me unless I buy the whole set. So I decided I might as well change the style.
I am not mechanic and I know nothing about mechanics except I do ride, and I ride long distance.
So my questions are:
Anyone has an opinion about those pipes??
Also they are telling me that I need "a jet kit" or a "power commander". And one company tells me that jet kit cost over $300.
So do I need it, is it worth it and do I have to put a Dyno Jet or something else will work.
Please help.

Once I get my Drifter exactly the way I want it I will post pics.. So far I have the fairings with 4 speakers and a radio and loving it...
RH Dooleys are pretty good pipes. Some riders have reported problems getting RH to ship them... and some parts were missing.
1500's are fuel injected... so no jets.
Some pipe changes will result in the need for an EFI box... like the Power Commander, Cobra FI2000 etc. Usually you don't need one. I did require one to eliminate decel backfiring. If you have also done an air kit mod, you will need one with a pipe change. Since you already have aftermarket pipes, you should not require one, but you won't really know until you get them installed and see how they perform.

I did not quiet understand about the EFI box, but I gathered that I just need the pipes and nothing else.
Its interesting that you tell me "injection fuel so no need for jets" while a friend I know (someone that tought motorcycle mechanics at school) mentioned exactly the opposite. I am not doubting you I am just confused. :)

ALL 1500 Drifters have electronic fuel injection. Carbs use jets, EFI uses injectors.
You modify fuel feed with jets on carbs... you modify fuel feed with electronic adjustments on EFI systems.
Gypsysoul777, Chief is right about the fuel injection vs jets. I have had people at the Kawasaki dealerships tell me that my Drifter has a carb. I just tell them that the bike is fuel injected and does not need jets. Lucky for me these were service writers. My Drifter has "confused" Harley mechanics into thinking it is an Indian. I don't put to much weight about this as long as these people do not work on my bike. I have Roadhouse pipes and nothing else was needed.

I have R/House on both my Drifter & Nomad,..2-1 on the Drifter,Dooleys on the Nomad.
Both were very easy to install,both sound great {IMO},the Nomad set has about 60,000 miles on them, & they have held up well, still look new.
I did a P/commander, & an air cleaner modify on the Nomad......didn't need the P/commander so i took it off. Never modified the Drifter & it runs perfectly.
The stock ECM, works very well.

I just added the Power Commander III to my 1500 because it was running lean and bluing me Roadhouse 2 n 1s. The bike defiantly feels like it has a more consistent power curve.
When I changed out my pipes I ran for a while with out the Power Commander and it was fine. Might try the new pipes first and see if you think you need it. They are easy to do and I think there may be a map for your set up already.
