Hello fellow drifters,
I am a new member and fairly new Drifter owner. Has anyone installed the Roadburner system on their scoot. I have found one for sale on e-bay for what seems like a great price. If you go to the Roadburner web site they do not show a system available for the 800 drifter. Possibly no longer in production? I know that DG makes both Hard Krome and Roadburner systems. The question is are they both of the same quality. I have been told that the Roadburner system has removable baffles whereas the Hard Krome does not. Another question is the length of the pipes on the Roadburner RB-01-8800. I am looking for pipes that extend just beyond the back edge of the rear tire. The e-bay seller must just be a clearing house because they could not answer this question.
Any info on this Roadburner system will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Carpe Diem Drifter
they look like vanc&hines long shots that i have...longshots have removable baffles.

I'm not familiar with Roadburner. Can't say I've ever heard of them on a drifter, but they may be pipes for a Classic which can be made to fit a drifter.
After as much research as I could do, I took a chance and purchased the Roadburner exhaust system RB-01-8800 from Roadoverstock on e-bay. The pipes arrived and I installed them yesterday. They are of high quality and look just like the Hard Krome system that is available for the 800 Drifter. Everything about the system and the transaction were great except for the installation instructions. The instructions supplied simply state remove old system and install new system. ( DUH ). I recommend this system if you want good looking pipes that are loud. I was able to purchase this system, a high flow air filter and a jet kit for the carb for less than the cost of the Hard Krome system alone.
I hope this post is helpful to those who are thinking of an exhaust change on their 800.

Thanks so much for the info, I have been doing some research online and can't decide between the Hard Krome American Classics, Road Burner or Roadhouse set of pipes. I found the e-bay sale you mentioned and am close to pulling the trigger but was hoping you might be able to send or post pics before I do it? I take it that the pipes do extend past the edge of the rear tire? Also, is the baffle removable? Did you change out the pipes, air cleaner and install the Stage 1 kit yourself? How easy was it? Sorry for all of hte questions.

I am glad that the info was helpful. For whatever reason I have been unable to post pictures for you. As far as the length of the exhaust system goes, it does extend past the rear tire. To be more precise; If you look straight down the face of the rear turn signal lens ( from above ) you can see about 1 inch of exhaust pipe further to the rear of the bike. The system looks just like it does on the e-bay listing photo.
If the baffles are removable is a good question. I found no retaining bolt, screw or snap ring that would indicate that they are removable.
I have a strong mechanical background and at one time in my life earned my families living as an auto mechanic. You can tell that it was a long time ago because I did not insist on the term technician. ( ha,ha ). I would rate this job as a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 as very easy and 10 very difficult. If you have mechanical ability and a fair complement of tools, you should be able to complete this project on you own. I would recommend that you have a 800 Drifter shop manual ( for your year model bike ) to refer to for the removal of the gas tank, instrument cluster and carburetor.
