Title: Black clutch/brake levers
Post by: Aaron Mitchell on October 13, 2012, 09:04:52 AM
Does anyone know if the cluths/brake lever from the older vn1500 will fit out bikes?

I cant find any listed for drifter specific or even any newer vulcan 1500

While not foolproof (sometimes PN's change for the same part year to year) you could look here to see if the PN's are the same.

I had forgotten about trying something like this.

They appear to be the same if i select a 96 classic but not the same as a regular 96 vn1500, but physically they look similar to the 96 classic so ill try them out and see

thanks

I had a hard time looking for black levers and went to the local powder coating place. I was told a shoe box of parts powder coated and finished for me would be about $120.00 so this winter I will be getting a large shoe box and get the parts powder coated that I am thinking of. Just a suggestion.

This is a GREAT idea! thanks! I always have a 'twitch' about the chrome parts not matching the whole 'Black" look of my drifter... :D

you can buy a powder coating kit for small parts on ebay for not much money and use a toaster oven to cure it.

on my 800 I went to the ISO black grips and had my levers powder coated black, I had ordered black levers for the bike but they were not completely compatible, so just ordered Drifter levers took them apart and had them powder coated and put back together and they work fine.

These are what I'm using on my 1500, no complaints.
