Title: ignition problems

Am having problems with the starter seemingly trying to engage while riding so I preceeded to remove the seat and check fuses, go to try to start the bike and I have power on lights and turn signals but have no power to the starter, it wont do anything. please help, what am i doing wrong

What model?

Any clicking, etc?   Is the battery in good shape?

Check the clutch switches... there is a cutout there. Also, check the kickstand switch and tip switch.

Could be a bad starter, but sounds like there is a short somewhere in the wires headed to the starter.

Thanks so much for the responses, I forgot to add that its a 99 1500 drifter. I have tried about all I feel good trying so I have secured and electrical guru and given him the shop manuel and he assures me with the schematic he will find the problems.

Hope he finds it quickly.  Electrical crap is a headache.
