Hey guys/girls. I'm new to the site and a proud new owner of a '99 Drifter 1500. I had a question regarding a few things... 1- I have a standard single seat, but have a smaller extra seat that could go on the back to create a dual. Are there any places that would show a bracket schematic that I could make one myself? I don't necessarily love the aftermarket dual seat, and would like something that was easily removeable. 2- I'm putting 18" apes on my bike over the winter. Does anyone know where they sell the cable extension kits? Obviously they have 50 million Harley kits, but haven't found one for the drifter to extend the lines.
Any help would be great! I'll post some pics once I finish the bars in the next month or so!
Question 1: This is the best I could come up with: http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/solo2dbl.html (http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/solo2dbl.html) I did a small tutorial that may help as well using those parts: http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/oemsbsetup.html (http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/oemsbsetup.html)
Question 2: The Drifter uses the same front fork setup as the Kawasaki Classic, so those parts will all fit!
Welcome aboard!! And congrats on your new bike! Look forward to seeing pics, so don't keep us in suspense too long! ;D
Regards and such,

Thank you! That bracket looks extremely easy to build. I've talked to a few fab shops around town here in Utah, so hopefully now that I have pictures they can come up with something. I just have a softail solo passenger seat that I'm looking to make a bracket to join the solo seat I already have. I'll have to update as I go as it may be helpful to others looking to not spend $600 on a Corbin seat made for the Drifter.
Thank you for the fork information as well! Sounds like I finally have something to go off rather than making custom lines.
Also, just wanted to throw something out there to see if anyone else has experienced the same thing. I'm a 3rd owner on my bike and the original owner is from Reno. The guy I bought it from told me that he went out to Laughlin (original owner) when he first got the bike, came out of a bar at night, and the tank had been keyed pretty drastically. These marks are still in the tank today as I have yet to paint the bike, but he chalked it up to being a Kawasaki bike made to look like an Indian. Have you guys seen that kind of hate around in other locations??
Uh yea, there is a K carved into both sides of my tank. I covered one with stock emblems. But the other is barely noticeable now. There are A$*holes everywhere, add a little liquid stupid and it happens. Funny thing is, if you put Indian emblems on it, 90% of them won't know the difference. Its just part of the Drifter lifestyle. I recommend putting something on the tank, emblem wise I mean, or stripes, if its naked it invites critics, had a guy come at me accusing me of putting the OEM light on the front fender which he thought was an Indian light, to try and pass it off as an Indian, I explained the difference and he walked off. I started looking for emblems shortly after that. The only thing some HD owners long for is an Indian, some will think your bike is Cool, till they hear what it is. Most just secretly wish it was theirs. Real bikers just love to ride. Even if its a moped. Enjoy.
