Was looking at my Drifter today and was wondering if anyone else was thinking that the tank edges just kind of look unfinsihed....I have this stuff I picked up at canadian Tire for my Jimmy's doors and it was easy to use and it does look really good and was thinking of doing around the tank with it. What do others think?
picture is of the product in the case and of the tank edge I was talking about
They sell this stuff on eBay for just this purpose.
Hey RatMan,
Hope all is well. I agree with you that the tank looks a little unfinished and rough with that lip on the edge. I also thought it was too bad that the design didn't have a smoother look. I guess with a darker paint, it's less noticeable which is one of many more reasons I'm going to paint my bike black.
Let me know how that trim cover looks once installed. I'm curious to know if and how changes the look once on the tank. Attach a picture if you can.

I put black edge trim on my 99 drifter, it looks better than the unfinished edge.
My friend put chrome finish on his 800 classic (he has more chrome than me) it looks good too.
I will shoot some closeups of both and post them.
(Tech Tip: take your instrument cluster off and start at the top front of one side and continue around the tank in 1 continuous piece, if you only run right side, then left side and meet in the middle by the seat in the hot days of summer the rear sections can come un-glued) personal experience.
Ride safe.

I"ve got the chrome on my 02 800 tank . I also put it on the leading front edge on my front fender.
