Title: TIMING GEARS
Post by: amsoilman on August 13, 2012, 07:23:35 AM
I was told that the 1999 1500 Drifter had an issue with PLASTIC timing gears. TRUE or Not. I couldnt find anything on internet about this.
Thanks: Amsoilman

Vulcans 1500 (not the drifters) have a known issue with Plastic Oil Gears (POG). Perhaps your source was confused?
see also http://www.skidrobinson.ca/POG/pog.htm (http://www.skidrobinson.ca/POG/pog.htm) for more information.

Scuttlebutt  has it that carbed 1500s had an evil plastic oil pump drive gear, prone to failure at the least opportune time. No injected 1500 (including Drifters) were ever blessed with this engineering faux pas...There are issues with timing chains on higher mileage units, but that's another story, entirely.

Just remember, most folks know nothing about the Drifter. No POGS on drifters.
