I have a regular vulcan 800 and the speedo went out. I did the test where i unplugged the cable from console and lifted rear tire spun it yet the cable didn't turn. So i ordr a new cable easy enough to see the path the cable takes went to unscrew the rear tire part of the cable but doesn't seem to just unscrew. Tugged on it a bit but didn't want to pull hard enough that may break it or do something dumb. So is it a unscrewing mechanism, pull harder or how is the rear of the cable suppose to unclip?
thanks for any input
some pictures to see if it is the same as a drifter
Looks like there is a pin that needs to be tapped out...what's lurking in that hole in the boss?
i got a 6mm allen screw that goes in the hole. I got a new speedo and installed it but it still doesn't work. So I unhooked it in front lifted rear tire and spun it yet it doesnt spin the core. since it was a new cable i unhooked the rear part of cable and manuel spinned it. It spun!!! so it must be something dealing with the rear tire. what is the thing in the rear tire called that spins the cable??? and is there any posts about this too
I'm thinking the hi-lited parts are what's going to be interesting you. Worm gear, crown gear, and drive collar, all inside the rear backing plate.
thanks again troll :) i had seen that picture before but i can't tell one part from another. your highlighting it lets me know what i need and where it goes. thank you again
