Title: New Lights...
Post by: Nunk on August 15, 2010, 13:58:56 PM
Hello all.

I would like to swap out my current lightbulbs (headlight, tail light, turn signals, light bar) for new, brighter ones.  Anybody have an idea what to get?  I don't want to do anything but swap out bulbs.  Is there such a thing as brighter bulbs that require nothing more than swapping out the existing bulbs w/out other modificaitons?  Part numbers would be great, too! Thanks in advance.

I tried putting 100's in my light bar and it blew the fuse; went back to the stock 55's.

I switched to this headlight bulb

Used 2357 bulb in the tailight; added this kit to turn signals

Put PIAA 14561 bulbs into the light bar. The factory light bar is only 35 watts.

I love the lighting but just a warning about 55 watt light bar, bike will not start with the light bar turned on. It does fine if I remember to shut the bar off every time. Mine is wired so light bar is on even if the bike is not running. I even went to a higher amp battery! Considering upgrade to classic charge but am having no luck finding out if it is possible.

They are 35w for a reason. Some drifters will not be able to handle the 55w - especially if they have any other electrical stuff hooked up. If you do a lot of stop and go, short runs etc. the bike may fail to maintain a battery charge. Some can handle them fine, but be careful and aware of the potential.
