Title: A possible stupid question
Post by: scamp62 on July 12, 2012, 21:44:21 PM
I think I already know the answer to this question.....but !
I need to polish the lower aluminum front fork (this bike
was at the beach for a long time) and it would be much easier
with the front finder removed. Is there any way to remove
the finder without removing the front wheel ?

I  polished my fork legs a couple of years ago. You will need to remove everything you can see, including the fender. One thing you might not realize is that you will need to get some zip strip, and I do mean Zip Strip. The lacquer that the factory puts on is quite tenacious. NOTHING I tried would touch it, until Zip Strip. Now would also be a good time to change the fork oil. It's pretty easy to do, and can only be done with the legs off....no drains.
