Title: Solo seat bracket?
Post by: theylive on August 06, 2010, 09:17:30 AM
Has anyone fabricated there own solo seat bracket? I can't find a solo seat conversion for under $500 bucks and I don't have that kinda cash to spend. I currently have the two-up seat mounted and not to fond of the way it looks. A friend of mine gave me a seat from a police harley and I just bought some 4'' springs which might be too big, but I'm determined to make this thing work. Below is a mock up

Ask and ye shall receive! A mount for exactly this is available:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SSM3-Solo-Seat-Mount-for-Kawasaki-Vulcan-800-VN800-95-03-Bobber-Chopper-Custom-/121549757172?var=&hash=item1c4cee1af4

Read it carefully and consider whether you want to buy the four mounting brackets as well.

Not sure that bracket will clear the front of the rear fender.  Looks like it is made for a genderless bobber. Even if it clear the fender when the bike is at rest, the way the suspension works the fender does not just travel straight up and down.  it pivots slightly forward as you hit bumps.

That eBay seat mount description states: "Also, it will not work with the stock fender still in place."

I actually had a mate of mine make a simple bracket using the original saddle mounting holes. I'll take a photo this weekend.

That will look really cool if you can make it work.
