Title: Bagger duals on a Drifter
Post by: 49Reo on July 26, 2010, 17:19:32 PM
Howdy, everybody out there in Drifterland; a quick question for those of you in the know: I would like to mount a set of V&H bagger duals on my 1500 Drifter; what all extra do I need to do this? Do I need to pick up rear foot peg mounts for a Classic, or can I use the foot peg mounts for the Drifter? (I would still need to buy the left hand Drifter foot peg mount anyway as mine came without) Any help would be appreciated. ;D

Regards and such,

First do you have hard bags?  If not it's alot harder. You can use the stock bracket for the right side but you have to modifity the end. Also you have to turn the exhaust 90 degrees so the bracket will bolt to it.  For the left side you have to make a bracket. If you cut the tips flush the drifter tips will fit on.

Thanks, guys, for the info; the pipes I ordered came in, and they managed to send me shortys for a Mean Streak! ;D Oh well, the waiting game goes on.
Thanks again;

Hi, no, I don't have hard bags. Would you happen to have some pics of the mounts you used to bolt these pipes to the stock footpeg bracket? I just got my bagger pipes today; looks like some fabbing coming up. Any help is appreciated.
Thx;

Hope this helps.  I used nomad passenger floor boards ( got a great deal on them) . On the right side I just welded a washer to the stock exhaust bracket and used the gromet and washer from the stock exhaust. On the left made a bracket that was close to the right side one. And used the floor board bracket as on of the installion points. In your case I would make a plate that bolts between the bike and the bracket for the rear peg.  You have to bolt down the bracket with at least two bolts . I tried it with one  and the pipe moves to much.
