Title: exhaust nut specs
Post by: 1999 Drifter on April 12, 2012, 14:10:08 PM
I noticed that the nuts holding the exhaust on were loose, I checked the service manual and I am not certain of the torque specs....pipes are road house doollies
Does anyone know the specs for tightening the nuts on the exhaust
Thanks

Well its an 8mm which Kaw says takes 10-13.5 ft/lbs. The 900 manual says 12ft/lbs (drifter manual doesn't list) and  I've also read 14ft/lbs(perhaps nomad). I'd go with 12 and check it after 50-60 miles.  I think we have specs listed over in the mods/tips. Will add to my research list list.

And all this time I thought they were supposed to be "gootentight"

Yeah, I got one of those fancy tork you wrenches... but the damn thing breaks loose everytime I try to tighten something down... I guess I need to turn that knob all the way up...
