After a year I have finally got to the point that I have sold my Honda and I am looking for a Bike. I have an appointment tomorrow to go look at a Drifter 1500 with only 6,000 miles on it...I am so excited. But it doesn't have an engine guard, highway pegs backrest, or luggage rest. But for the price I wont complain. This will also be the first time I have ridden one also, I am jumping out of my skin with excitement.

I agree that Add-ons are a lot of fun Chief... only if I can find them though lol the sissy bar and pad for the passenger looks to be the most difficult to get my hands on...
Yeah, depends on the seat - two up, solo, oem, aftermarket Kaw/corbin, corbin, other!
Its a 2 up seat..I only found one on ebay but its from Great Britain...so I question that

The bike is mine!!!! I am officially a drifter rider now!!!! Yes!!!! The sellers were nice but he never rode the bike. He still had a full tank of gas in it from last fall. I thought it would be heavier but it's not. The fuel injection will take some getting used to though, I try to be very smooth but it is so responsive and can get slightly jerky.
I was backing out of the drive way yesterday morning and now have a huge hole in my leg because the owner didn't use the head shifter and adjusted it to be level with the floor boards.....OUCH never hit the corner of that, trust me lol hubby will need to fix that.
There are 3 cracks in the windshield and 2 have been riveted to keep from cracking more I guess, it looks terrible but that will have to wait to be fixed till hubby gets a new windshield for his and I get a passenger backrest - an engine guard and highway pegs.
Pics will come as soon as I wash it.

Yes congratulations on your purchase of a drifter. Dressing the bike is the way to make it your own. It's amazing to see 40 drifters at drift-ins and no two look the same. Some thing you have to fabricate, because they didn't make a lot of after market stuff for the drifter. The back rst to my two up seat was for a 650 shadow. Don't put a hyper charger on your ride. Anneoakley and I can tell you horror stories about ours.

Believe it or not, having the rear shifter at floorboard level is where Kawasaki originally installed it. I have mine up in the back, about 1 1/2" like I had it on my TourGlide. If I slide my boot back against it, it touches just at the top of the heel cap on the boot.
Here's a picture of what I did...one pic=1000 words...or more! Much more comfortable, and positive upshifts are now certain
That is how mine is set up, too. I am planning on cutting the toe shifter and adding about 2" to it, and the brake pedal too; (big feet) so I have more room for the above-mentioned feet. ;D

Troll ~ Thx for the pic that is where Hubby adjusted it too last night before it was level with the floor boards like I said. I can still see my clumsy self hitting it with my leg again lol But mine doesn't have the rubber grip on it...now i have to add that to the list of things I need ha ha ha thx Troll lol
I took it for a spin last night to try out the shifter and it felt unnatural but I know I will get used to it. I kept lifting my foot like I was in marching band lol I wear a size 10 womens (I know big feet lol) and I thought the shifters would be closer together but hubby says there is no adjustment for them to be that way just an up and down adjustment.

well i have been trying to add pics to this post but it keeps erroring out. I put the pixels at the right dimensions but I will try again later today
I used to have a lot of problems uploading pics; I finally figured out, if I right-click on the pic, hit "edit" go up to "image" click "stretch/skew" and adjust to 30% on both horizontal and vertical, save it and it will drop a pic from, say 2.4 mb to about 90kb; then it uploads easy. Also, after clicking on "select" you have to click post before the pic, actually uploads to the post. I had lots of problems until I figured it all out with Chiefs help. HOpe all this helps!

Big files take a while. I just added one to this post - didn't take much time at all. Using Chrome, it shows the upload percentage at the bottom left. Then "waiting for VulcanDrifterRiders.com" - that last bit took longer than the first bit. But I figure it took about a minute altogether.
Remember we changed to a new server. There is a lot going on in the background on this particular server which will impact this situation.
My upload speed will be different from yours... but a 2gb jpg uploaded in 8 seconds, while it took 1 minute and 15 seconds for the server and software to deal with the upload. This same pic errored (500 error)out for me the first go-round. A 256kb file took less than 30 seconds to complete.
Do yourself a favor and ALWAYS resize your pics down to 800x600 or 640x480 or in that range. Make them jpg's. This will reduce the overall file size. If you are on a slower connection, this will most definitely help. You don't need high resolution (big files) for web pics. If you are sending me a file for something that needs to be high res... you'd do that by email.
If it takes too long the server will abort the operation and return a server error. If you error out, try again... or resize and try again.

Here is my pup that rides in a pouch on my chest when I go for a drive. I had major drama over doing this and was verbally attacked by one of the people I ride with because of it his weekend

Nice!!! I like that color. As to your pup,it's funny how there is always someone out there willing to criticize what others do; one of the biggest reasons I like to ride alone. Years ago, a friend of mine had small terrier of some sort; that mutt put in a lot of miles riding shotgun; buddy took the lid off of the left saddlebag, built a little windshield on it, and that little dog rode many a mile in there, never came to any harm.
What plans do you have to personalize you Drifter? Be sure to post pics!

Well I have to get a backerest soon! My boys want a ride real bad. Then a windshield and an engine guard but for fun stuff I want to fringe it all out starting with a seat cover. My budget says little by little though lol
I just got her tuned up and I have a small oil leak the cam something or other I can't remember what he said but I was told it can be a winter project... Thank goodness because it's about 900 to fix it darnit
Sounds like the camshaft plug on the cylinder head; kind of a pain to change. However, look in the mods/tips section on the homepage; there is a "quick-fix" that sounds like a good way to fly. Worth a look, anyway.

You have an 800...the valve covers come off without taking out the engine. This is because it is required to adjust the valve lash periodically...Hmmm, if it is a cam bore plug, you could change it during routine maintenance!
Sorry, took another look at your pictures, and no, I was wrong...nothing new there...there is a fix listed on the web site for these plugs that's a whole lot cheaper than pulling the engine...

THX!!! My FIL is a mechanic...maybe he can give it a go...he works on buses and used to b in the air force and did planes I wonder if bikes are too small for him lol

OK even though I look like a big doofus now I did call the place where I got the bike tuned up and they said that the Cam Plug on rear cylinder head is leaking SO any suggestions???

OH my bad then I thought that one was just for the cam shaft...I will look again for the plug
