Hello all
I just purchased a 2002 1500 Driter and to register in MN I need to provide both the VIN and the Engine number to the DMV.
I cannot find the engine number on the bike.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

With in a week after I bought mine (a month ago) from a Kawasaki dealer, I got a letter in the mail from Kawasaki Motors Corrp. U.S.A. that had the serial and engine numbers in the letter. They also asked me to know of any address or ownership changes.
Maybe you can call them (Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A.) 849-770-0400 they should be able to help you.
Its on the left side surface of the lower crankcase... .. get a drop light or flash light.
Underneath the bike - a bit forward of the kickstand - close to the oil screen plug.
