Title: Anyone Shipped a Drifter cross country?
Post by: Master Gates on June 14, 2010, 11:20:04 AM
Greetings all,

I bought a 2003 Drifter 800 a few months back and am now looking to move cross country.  Has anyone shipped their drifter or any other bike before, and if so, would you have any suggestions on different companies and or methods?

Thanks!

I bought my 800 from a guy in California and I live in NY State.
It cost me $740 to have it shipped here. I think the name of the company was JC Motors. You could do a google search.
They did a good job and were very accomadating to a couple requests I had.

I bought my Drifter in WV, and live in OR., had it shipped, and highly recommend the people I used. They are a subsidiary of Allied, I can't remember their exact name but you should be able to find them on Allied Van Lines web site. They were fantastic. they never start your bike, have special pallets for securing, lift gates, and very experienced motorcycle guys that are handling your most precious motorcycle.I was amazed,my Drifter showed up on time as promised, not a mark on it,and very nice, friendly people. I think I also paid about $750. I have heard some not so good things about the other one mentioed in thread,...JC whatever they are. I read a review on them when I was looking for a shipper for my move, and theguy said he had been waiting more then 6 weeks for his bike, missed a rie he was looking forward to riding in,and they still couldnt tell him when they were going to get it to him,it was sitting in a warehouse somewhere, and had been for a month. You know they probably all have a horor story in their past somewhere, but I was sure impressed with my move. Good luck.

I picked up my Drifter near enough to go get it myself.  But last year I bought an older Harley Road King in So. Dakota, and had it shipped here to a small island in Washington. I used HAULBIKES.COM. Very priofessional and the driver was on his cell to me at least once a day. It cost $530.00. I would recommend them highly.
