Title: Expensive Noises
Post by: LightEagle on February 16, 2012, 21:08:31 PM
OK my '99 1500 finally shot craps.  At least it sounds like it.  I got it with 32k and now has 39k+.  Has always had a "ticking" and now it is a real loud "clank/knock/clunk".  Two estimates (ballpark) of $1500 - $1800.  Now the question is rebuild, used or sell for parts?  I really can't afford to just get a new/different bike.   Need best place for engine/parts and what engines will fit and work without major mods?

Thanks

Well the good thing is most of the engine parts are used on multiple models and will be available through discount parts dealers like RonAyers.com and bikebandit.

Good News on the parts, and I just got off the Delphi Forum and there is a thread that states that a 1600 Mean Streak engine will drop in and plug right up.  guy up in Canada has be doing for years.  Supposed to anyway.  Any other engines drop in?  Thanks

I suspect 1500 classic, but don't know from personal experience.
