Title: saddlebag options
Post by: La Douche on February 14, 2012, 19:27:55 PM
im looking for a set of very large saddlebags for my bike, something that really fills out the fender area...

i'd like smooth leatherish material, no studs of fringes

similar to these just larger http://www.ebay.com/itm/RACAPOSHI-LEATHER-SADDLEBAGS-KAWASAKI-DRIFTER1500-/130584031279?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item1e676a302f (http://www.ebay.com/itm/RACAPOSHI-LEATHER-SADDLEBAGS-KAWASAKI-DRIFTER1500-/130584031279?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item1e676a302f)

Try leatherConnexion.com  they have alot of custom stuff and they  can build you anything you want I  bought a large set of tan bags at a swap meet that they made and they look great...I also like the looks of the larger ones.

Another option might be to cover some hard bags, like Nomad bags, with leather.  Best of both worlds!

I am in the process of mounting a set of Harley leather bags on my 1500; I will have pics posted tonight of the projects progress. It does entail relocating the signal lights and extending the pipes. Check my post on "Harley bags on a 1500" in the "1500 only " column.

alot of work but you'll definitely have alot of storage!!  :)  and best part is he mounted them to the swing arm and not the frame so they do not bounce up and down with you & the seat. ... i modified my broken osprey brackets that went on the seat and placed them in the same spot (my bags are much smaller)...

Looks good! In order to mount the bags I put on, I had to either move the rear pipe over to the left side of the bike or raise the bags up about 4-5 inches. Liking the bags mounted low, and liking dually exhaust, I went with the setup you see in my pics. However, each to their own. Your setup looks good. Do you have a full pic of your bike that you can post?
