Not to brag (OK, maybe a little), but I had to tell the group. I put 2400 miles on my 2000 1500 Drifter last week covering WI, IL, KY, TN, AL, GA, NC, OH, IN, and OH. What a ride, 300-400 miles/day, a lot of mountain miles, a bit of rain, and the Drifter never missed a beat. The bike seemed to get more attention than ever as people flocked to it at literally every stop. This thing is as reliable as it is beautiful...the perfect bike! I love it.

ride, ride, ride,
Mr. Bill
Bravo... sounds like a great ride/time!
I agree sounds like a wonderful ride. I wish I had been along on mine with you!! As you said Ride Ride Ride!!!
And all with out a windshield. He did say a little rain, ouch, that why I like a windshield
oh yeah, I forgot to brag...no windshield. It rained everyday when we were in the south, but it was scattered and we just rode through it. You'll notice in the photos that I was wearing my rain gear on the Dragon...pretty much wore it the entire trip. During hard rain I use a neoprene mask which helps a lot, along with water proof kayaking gloves. My riding boots were soaked the entire trip so I was continuously changing boot liners (plastic shopping bags).
Here are a couple pics of some of our roadside lodgings...the price was right. When you wake up and the first thing you see is your bike are you still dreaming?
OK I'm jealous... I can't wait for July 4th to get here, That's when I start my ride to Durango. My plan was the lodging you had. I think my wife has other plans (Hotels). Even then the ride won't be near as long as your. Glad you had a great trip.....Ride ride ride
Awesome ride, way jealous. Where did you get your rims? The look like they are black rims and black spokes.
Thanks! The wheels are stock drifter equipment, I just powder coated them black, spokes and all.
HOW MUCH WAS IT TO POWDER COAT BOTH RIMS BLACK?
At the time I powder coated the wheels I also did a bunch of other parts, so it was a package deal. I have developed a pretty good report with my powder coater so I think that helps my rate too. That being said, I paid $200 to powder coat 2 wheels, highway bars, handle bars, foot pegs, and a few misc small parts. That price included sandblasting the chrome off of all the parts.
For powder coating you'll obviously have to do some disassembly, the tires come off the rims (pain in the butt unless you have a shop do it) and the wheel bearings have to come out. I have done this to an 800 Drifter and a 1500 Drifter...the rear wheel of the 1500 has some extra parts you must remove for powder coating. Bare in mind that you may have to buy new wheel bearings as well. The Kawi manual recommends replacing the wheel bearings if you remove them. On the first bike I did I replaced the bearings per the recommendation, on the second bike I was able to reuse the original bearings (they only had 3000 miles on them at the time), haven't had any problems with bearings that I reused.
who is taking all those motorcycle pictures in the same spot?
how much does he charge for each picture, does he stop and ask if you want your picture taken?
he must be making a killing $$$...lol
There are a couple different photo taking outfits on the Dragon. Those were by killboy.com, which seems to be the dominant site. Their photographer takes photos of every single bike, car, truck, or other that goes down the road and post them to their website. They are out there every day and I believe that their database of photos goes back many years. You can then purchase the photos through the website. 4X6 photos start at $6.25 each and go up from there. You can even get the photo on a coffee mug, water bottle, key chain, coasters, or a plaque. I'm sure they make a good living...and what an awesome job that would be! Personally, I'll just enjoy the photos via the website :)
One of our guys put on over 2 1/2 k miles last week on the JOGLE !
