Yeah but will be high 50's again next week. Having lived in places where 12 feet of snow and minus degrees are typical, I think I prefer this! But you are right, no riding for me today!!
No complaints here, it's been one of the mildest winters we've ever had. 50 all weekend, had the Drifter out Friday and had my '76 sporty out today 8)
if you don't mind the rain and cold weather (low 40's) then the Pacific Northwest is where to be. I ride all year round here, of course some days I dressed like an Eskimo. here if you don't ride in the rain you don't ride. If I still had my dirt bike I'd be out playing in the mud.

We haven't had what you would think of as a normal winter for Wisconsin...which is a good thing. 50's in January is quite a treat..we had some snow, but only about a foot, total, all winter. It's been in the lower 40's this last few days, so I've had both bikes out for short runs, but they are saying snow overnight. It's nice and about 36 right now, might have to go out this afternoon for a bit.
Ive been riden all year, in FEBRUARY. this never happens, wats really goen on. ive actually been sporten my lil bobber around town, mus b global warmen. AHHHHHH. luven it. ;D in fact, i jes got back. geten to old ta b riden riged cuz iam beat up, cold tired an hungry. but iam goen again. suns still up.
We've been having winter alternating with early Spring, since January. All things considered, it's been a really mild winter, especially for up here in the freezer of the country...It actually got up to 45 deg. today, so I had to go for a little ride. Yes, that's ice on the Mississippi, and there are ice fishermen, too. I get all the ice I need from the refrigerator, but that's another matter.
9" of snow yesterday morning; plowed for 2 hours. Got up this morning, 2" more. Ahh, but spring is just around the corner; problem is, the corner is a loonnnggg ways off!

About 55 here yesterday!... pretty nice today, about 50. It snowed for several hours last week... but the ground was too warm to stick.
It got to 51 yesterday, and now it's 27, and they are saying we could get up to 20" of snow starting tomorrow, or...maybe nothing...Do these people actually get paid to do this?.
Here in OH, it's been mild too. Not too good for my two boys, who plow snow for money, but not too bad for a lot of the rest of us.
60+ today, and tomorrow, 50s on Monday, and back up to 70 by Wed...I LOVE IT!
Troll - so I guess that means you'll be on the bike all weekend! Too sore to work on Monday! LOL.
It's supposed to be 60s here in central OH as well. I think I"ll at least take my boy's new bike around the block or two, just to get me "warmed up" for when I can get my new drifter..... if I ever decide which size to buy..... and if I ever fine the one I want.... within a days drive..... for less than a young fortune......
I live in North East MS. (about 40 miles from the TN. border & 50 from the Al. line)
I have driven my 99 Drifter daily to work this past winter except for 5 days (freezing rain/snow).
Rain or shine, it gets me there and back.
Don't get me wrong, there were a few days where it was in the teens, but hey, it is all part of the game, and i still enjoyed the ride..
I have people always say something similar to "but it raining today" and i answer back, "yes and your point is"??
Yes during hard thunderstorms, or freezing rain or snow i will drive the car.
After living in Colorado for many years and riding motorcycles there most of the year (except when there was snow on the ground) as long as you have the proper equipment for the weather you are riding in, it ain't that bad..
Now that the weather is turning better, i have to make new time to ride more.
Oh, there will be a cancer ride ending at the Rattlesnake Saloon this saturday (march 31) in Tuscumbia, Al. a very cool place.

It's been warm enough up here to ride for the last week. Problem is, my driveway is about a hundred yards long, and still has about 4" of snow and ice on it. I go out every afternoon with the plow and scrape off the slush, but still can't get the bike out to the main road (safely) Don't want to chance dumping it; not worth it so I will wait another week or so. I envy all you folks who are already out riding! :( ;D

Ride through the yard, man... what's keepin you? J ;D Just kidding. It's been warm enough to ride here, but not warm enough to stay warm...
The only thing keeping me from riding through the yard is the foot or so of snow left with a liberal dose of ice under it... and since no one has ever accused me of being graceful, ;D, I think the smart money is on waiting for things to warm up and dry up.....
Oh well, it will happen soon, just not soo0n enough.

Weather channel is forecasting near record high for tomorrow...78. We've had a bunch of 70+ days this last two months, and I even mowed the lawn! Wife's flowers all over the place...
Yeah, yeah, yeah, rub it in, guys, rub it in! My turn's a'coming! Was gone all day yesterday, must have been a warm one; snow ad ice is almost gone, now just mud....

I've lived in about 6 northern states... you gotta ride when you can, you can't let too many good days go by, that's for sure.
Although it's cold, and riding may not be as enjoyable... it beats a picture on the desk of an empty bike taunting me. :'(
JK guys... but being as I will be coming back as fall is breaking into the "chilly" side... are there any of those heater jackets and gloves that I keep hearing about that anyone would recommend. I do plan on doing a good bit of riding year round (save rainy days) and I've been told that chaps, heater jacket and gloves with a full face are all I really need for the 50's we tend to flirt with in the fall.

I usually ride down into the low 30's, When it gets near freezing, I start to lay off the 2 wheels since ice is an enemy of traction...that said, I have a good heavily insulated 3 season jacket with armor, and 2 years ago I broke down and bought heated gloves. My hands are my weakest spot since I had "corrective" surgery. I have to take drugs during the cold weather to keep the blood circulation going. Last year, I rode from Casper Wy. to home (1,000) miles in 35-40 deg rain. Good jacket, heated gloves and a rain suit... Just a thought about a full face helmet. I wear one, I own 3, a Bieffe B20, and two HJC symax, the 1 and the 2 models. For most all my riding, the helmets work very well, but cold, fog, and rain tend to cause the helmet visors to fog up on the INSIDE...you have to keep the visor cracked a little to defog...I have a camo textile sleeve that fits over my head and neck that I bought at the PX years ago. This works very well to cut the cold blast coming in from under the visor, and with it covering the lower portion of my face and neck, it seals the junction between helmet and jacket...Just some random thoughts....Going to an ABATE regional meeting today, should be interesting to see how many bikes there are in the parking lot ;D
I use a heated jacket, insulated blue-jeans, chaps and a heavy leather jacket for cold riding; I seldom use rain gear as I find the leather, when kept oiled, seems to keep me dry. I do carry rain gear and will use it if it is raining hard. I understand the visors on full face helmets fogging up; however, if a person wants to spend the money, you can buy a helmet for ski-doo riding in winter time. Apparently, you can get them with a heated visor, or buy a heated visor kit to install on your present full-face helmet. Check out the site below.

The problem with buying a cold weather specific helmet is having it with you when you get a surprise. On the way to Casper it was in the low to mid 70's, The day I left, the weather had changed so drastically, it was like early winter. If I had been able to anticipate the weather change that was coming, I would have had some other things packed with me....The sleeve I'm talking about is an all purpose device that takes up less room than a handkerchief, and I use it as a helmet liner, or pull it down over my neck. Everybody has a different way to deal with crappy weather, some more effective than others...I stopped for gas in a little town, and there was a guy in leather, riding a softail, frozen in the gas station...trying to smoke a cigarette...He looked at my Drifter and asked me if the soft lowers made a difference... ::)
Here's a look at the helmet liner/neck sleeve...and my (?)smiling face....don't let any little kids see this to prevent nightmares!
I use to snowmobile a lot so as the weather gets cold out comes my snowmobile stuff. Neck mufflers, helmet liners, heck I have even used snowmobile gloves but I wouldn't recommend the ones I have for riding around town too much. They are really stiff and not much "feedback" can be felt through them, but they are really warm! Like Troll I have the soft lowers and they keep my lower legs pretty warm.
That helmet liner/neck sleeve looks a lot like the ones we used under our fire helmets; I have a couple of those left in my gear; think I will throw one in my saddlebag....thanks for nudging my flea-bitten brain. I have a memory like a rabbits tail; short and fuzzy! ;D

Ice is gone from the driveway, mud is drying, just got my parts back from the powder coaters, have to put them on tomorrow, then update my PCIII on my bike for the new pipes, then "SHAZAM!" I go riding! (but I'm not excited) ;D ;D ;D
