Title: Rear Shocks
Post by: Dozer on February 06, 2012, 18:09:43 PM
I have a 2000, 1500 Drifter. I was wondering if the rear shocks are rebuiltable.

I hate saying NO... we have a bunch of innovative people around here. But, there are no repair parts for the shocks, it would require special tools,  and they are not intended to be rebuilt.

I have a used set from a 2000 here if you need replacements. Or you might want to go with an aftermarket shock.

;) Thanks, I was just wondering. I've removed the shocks off and taken the valve off and noticed that the oil in it was just like water. Maybe all I need to do is reload and see what happens

Yeah, its hydraulic oil... Problem is, I don't know how much oil should be in there, the viscosity that should be used, or how you will get it in there without contamination. Without knowing how much to use, you may over pressure the shock and pop the membrane inside. There may be something online someplace about the shock oil, I haven't seen anything on it however.

:) Thanks Chief. Somone in the TIP posted that he used 15w50 synthetic oil, and only filled it at 60ml. It maybe worth a try.
