Hi, I'm thinking of selling my 99 drifter 1500 with custom saddle and windshield. Less than 20k miles, and all chrome upgrades from later drifters. So what is it worth?
bout 5 ges, wana trade for a 68 chrysler newyorker. mint cond. send pics.
Well, I think the chrome "upgrades" will detract from the value of the 99. In this economy its worth what someone will pay for it. Condition and location impacts the value... likely not over 4K, but you never know. If you aren't in a big hurry, you might list it at a higher value and see what happens.
As Troll says, look at existing sales and the blue book value and decide for yourself. The 99 on ebay has a corbin 2-up saddle and osprey bags... not cheap additions.
According to the "blue book", $3750 in excellent condition, retail...one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RARE-99-Indian-Drifter-Vulcan-1500cc-Great-Condition-Lots-ADD-ONS-/180795321582?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item2a183dacee (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RARE-99-Indian-Drifter-Vulcan-1500cc-Great-Condition-Lots-ADD-ONS-/180795321582?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item2a183dacee)
I paid $1,000 for my '01 with a broken transmission, sitting in a barn in rural Wisconsin....truth probably lies somewhere in between.
I can tell you I had my insurance cover mine for $11,000. sent them photos and the paint is included.
I hope I never need the insurance. The company is Foremost.
How would I know, I'm in a different country..but the truth is somewhere between priceless and worthless..
I hope your interest is not because you are in need of money because this is not the best time of the year to sell, everyone has those big power and water bills to pay and in many places this is not riding weather..
If you are in need of money I suggest that you remove the extras and sell the bike as basic, then sell the extras on ebay, the fact that it is a 99 might put some people off because of the plastic oil gear that 'I think' was fitted in that year.
John.
It is our understanding that NO Drifters were fitted with the plastic oil gear (pog)....

I bow to your knowledge sir..It was my understanding that the POG was fitted to carb models but replaced when they fitted injectors..But I am glad to be corrected.
John.
Only 800 cc models have the carb, all 1500 Drifters, even back to '99 are injected.
Love the priceess and worthless comment. This seems to happen every year and I'd say the advice for selling extras desperate is good. Shame to sell now. For anyone, this thread started almost a year ago which happens every year so Im sure someone here will be selling soon. Happy New Year!
