Pulled over to side of the road to throw on a shirt. When I turned on ignition switch, did not hear the DFI system power up, then seen the FI led light stay on. Took off the side cover to check the DFI main relay. It made a buzz sound (not normal I think) when ignition switch was turned on. Removed the Main Relay, taped it lightly, then reinstalled, the buzz noise was gone, and was just making a clicking sound when ignition switch is turned to on position (normal I think).
By doing the above, I got the engine to turn, but still did not hear that DFI system power up sound when u turn on ignition key.
When I tried to get a fault code, the FI led just stayed on?
Silly Question- Can a simple relay be bad considering the above, and cause the above?
Why am I not getting a fault code?
Input will be appreciated.
Are you sure you got a good ground on terminal 37 of the ECU? If not the FI light just stays lit. Testing a relay is easy; all you need a voltmeter and a 12 volt power source. Energize the relay and the meter should read, disconnect power source and it shuts off.
You indicated you "tried to get a fault code"... how did you try?
You have to ground terminal #37 to the battery to get it to spit out fault codes. As indicated it has to be a good ground.
Make sure you read the tips info over in the mods/tips on ECU fault codes and follow the instructions for extracting the codes.
Are you getting power TO the PCIII?
I don't know if the pciii has an inline fuse... I think it takes power directly from the battery, so if you aren't getting power to it.. it may be something simple like terminal corrosion.
chief:
i can't find the ECU fault codes in the mods/tips section???
where are they?
~thanks

You can use the search feature over there to find stuff... for some reason hitting "home" before you search gets the best results.
