Title: progressive 465 reviews
Post by: GRIDD on November 04, 2011, 21:14:14 PM
Ive got to replace my stock shock and wondering what folks think of the progressive shock before i fork out the money.  I see that tripwire installed one on his ride, ( by the way thanks for the info on replacing it).

My 02/ 800 came with a progressive monoshock, so I have no comparison to the stock shock. Mine has only one adjustment., a 0 to 5 dial. I have the solo seat and I've changed the settings. The only response is how fast it returns back to the orig height.

I just saw that Hagon makes a shock also.  Anyone use one of these?

Someone used Hagon shocks on a 1500: http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/forum/index.php?topic=11741.msg20545#msg20545 (http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/forum/index.php?topic=11741.msg20545#msg20545)
Not comparable of course, the 800 has a complete different shock system.

Thanks waltervl, but I am looking for feedback on the monoshocks, (how they handle, max weight ect).  I havent found much online so far.

I too have been trying to figure out what to do.
The stock shock has pretty good dampening, it's the spring that is sheety!
It must be set up for a guy weighing 120#!
If you want to keep the arse end up to let the front end grab, (stink bug, more weight on the back ten the front), you gotta zip the preload up to get the 3/4" sag.
Then it rides like a wash board.
I been kicking @ the idea of taking and making a spacer to lift the back end up 1" or so, (or try to slip the forks in the tube, (ala off road bikes. You lower the forks in the triples to make it handle better).
This way I can lower the preload to soften the ride.
The $$ to try a new shock (@$425 me thinks) is a BIG trial!
I LIKE my drifter, but as is it handles crappy with the rear shock soften to ride.

so many bikes, so few $$
