Title: struts
Post by: 1999 Drifter on October 27, 2011, 07:47:47 AM
Do the struts that extend from under the seat along both sides of the rear fender serve any structural purpose
I'm thinking of removing the aluminum struts and replacing them with steel ones so that I can take my bags on and off as needed
The inside of the threaded holes in my aluminum struts tend to get "chewed up" every time I screw in bolts to put on my bags and I think the problem would be solved if steel struts were used

any thoughts
Thanks

Yeah, those are intended for bags and racks. That's all they do. No problem making them from another material.
