You are going to have to take the seat off, remove the battery hold down (do not disconnect the battery!!!!) and pull the controller up so you can access the connectors. On one end, the smallest of the connectors has no wires in it...you need to ground pin 37 to the battery with a jumper wire, then turn on the ign. switch and count the flashes...for each digit of the code, there will be one blink, followed by a 1 second break, followed by the next digit...like blink......blink blink....(that would be a 12)....then a 3 second interval and the code repeats 3 times, then if there are more it will blink again... like blink blink......blink blink blink blink.....that would be a 24, once you know the code, post it here and I can look it up for you and give you trouble shooting instructions. make sure you give it enough time to go through all the codes, in case there is more than one.

Look in the mods/tips section of the website under air/fuel section. There is info on testing the ecu.

But first I'd check the fuel.

I'm having a similar experience. Feels like a clutch slip but only on occasion. sometimes on take off from a stop, some times between gears.
rand perfect one day then started doing this... I thought it was the clutch but not I'm not sure...  01 800 drifetr

I would suggest the Thunder Mfg. clutch upgrade.  I had a similar problem to what has been described here and after replacing it with this that gremlin was evicted.  Solid feel, solid engagement.
