Title: Who Knew!?
Post by: chief on March 23, 2010, 14:08:23 PM
I bought a truck last month (Toyota Tundra 5.7L SR5 etc. )

I have never owned a truck in my life... and I've owned a bunch of vehicles. We were looking at motorhomes, but decided maybe an RV trailer would be better... # of uses, cost, leaving on river property, etc.

But that meant we needed something to pull it. Our other vehicles weren't up to that task. So my wife - who has owned trucks - asked if I would consider a truck... never thought about it before that moment.

Anyway, I love the truck... but who knew there were SO many things to add to a TRUCK... like a bike there is a ton of things out there.

I already have a list...

Alarm ($300), radio upgrade ($1600), bed cover ($600), bumper guards ($700), tires, wheels, graphics, lights, leather upgrades... already added step bars, aircraft gas cap cover, and air horn...

And, who knew people are so BRAND conscious about freakin trucks? Looking at some of the truck forums they really get nasty about this stuff... of course if that sorta thing bothered me I'd be riding some inferior bike, dressed in all black in a pack of 15 duplicate bikes!

Lastly, just did 2500 miles in two days in it... comfortable and quiet... forgot it was a truck!

Cheers.

I just bought a Tundra as well; quietest truck I have ever had; lots of goodies as standard fesatures vs some of the others out there. Not too crazy about the way it revs up to 2000RPM on cold start up, though. I can recall engines with spun bearings due to high RPM on start up in -40 weather; Toyota says not to worry, theirs can handle it. Time will tell....
Regards and such,

Like the bikes, the truck is merely the downpayment on the add-on parts!
