Ya gotta love eBay...I bought the Cobra pipe for my drifter for about $185, shipped, still in the 1999 newspaper from the factory, and sold the used V&H longshots for $185....sometimes it's not winning, but staying even that's a reason to celebrate.
So I sold the Nomad seat in 12 hours.
All told the brackets cost me $4.00, lol Woot!!
Cant do much better than that.
Thansk again with all the info that helped me find and install the seat brackets I needed.

UPDATE!!
I fixed it.
All I had to do was buy a seat off a 2001 Kawasaki VN1500L Vulcan Nomad that had the brackets.
I got away cheap as I found a seat that someone turned me onto for $29.00 plus shipping, cost me $44.00 all told.
The brackets worked perfectly so for me the saga is over.
Now I just have to sell this seat, it doesnt quite fit my bike and I dont need it.
I will list it for $20.00 and try to get most of my money back so in the end it oughta cost me less than 10$ if I can sell this seat that is.
I was thinking if it was a fit I would keep it and have a spare to mess with for covering in a matching leather to the bags I am going to get.
But as I said it doesnt fit and the brackets dont line up with that seat, but when I put them on mine, lined right up and luckily I had a couple wingnut screws that were the right thread and just screwed them on.
So if anyone is stuck for these brackets, it isnt the most economical way to go about it but at least there is a way.
Thanks very much for all the help, I really appreciate it.

In fairness, the fit problem was likely because of the corbin seat. Those rails are for oem seats. I have never seen one that would fit a true corbin and the oem both.
Kawasaki had the stock seat, an aftermarket seat which was a Kaw pan covered by corbin... and there us the true corbin. It doesn't' fit the corbin, apparently.
But customer service may be more of an issue.
well thats why I mentioned it to see if he had been around or if you guys had known about him.
Thats scary, yeah he told me on the phone he sold one to a guy in Paris who sent him the pic of the bar on his drifter which is the pic he uses for the drifter seat rail ad, then he said that he had gone to someones place tho take measurements for the 1500 and had 10 made.
Anyway thats funny, well I wont worry about him popping up here then if he has already established himself as a problem or scammer then.
I talked to him on the phone he was very confident adn said these were made specificaly for the drifter 1500, if I hear from him agin I will ask him abotu this Yamaha stuff and the issues these others had.

I think you had better read this thread on the rails this fellow sells which was on this forum.

Well I bought that seat on eBay for the brackets.
As long as they fit and it looks like they will that will br great.
I will sell the seat whihc loosk beat for $15.00 or something later.
I guess if someone is going to have one covered anyway that would be a good way to go.
Anyway hopefully this will solve my problem and I can bolt the seat on, I will let you kow when it comes.
Also the solo seat I bought came off of a 2001 Drifter it was an oem seat for 01 from what I was told, so although my bike is a 99 the seat is an 01, and the brackets are going to be off a 2001 vulcan.
Thanks again for all the help and thanks for the link and for turning me onto the fact that these brackets are either the same or close enough to maybe be able to use on the drifter I hadnt though of that.

Only the 99 & 00 had the rubber bumpers, 01 and up do not have them, if you look really close, I think I see the bolts are there it is just the angle that the picture is taken at has them block from view. The classic seat I got off ebay, the brackets worked fine. My fuzzy brain is telling me that I read somewhere that all 1500 Vulcans have the same brackets; but I sure can not locate that note now.
by the way there is a guy with 10 chrome seat rails available for the solo seat for the drifer on eBay
$220.00 shipped if anyone is still looking for these.
I just spoke to him and if you do it off ebay and dont use paypal he can offer them for even less.
He has them for the 800 and 1500 and he is going to poweder coat one for me black to see how that works.
I Am going to look closer to see the design of it and if it is like the ones I have seen in the past, I think it was MArshall that had one, I really like that design so I wonder if his are like that and if not can they be made that way, he took the measurements off the 1500 since he only had 800's available to him and had some made, so I assume he can alter the design to other specs if necessary.
He gave me a great price on one though powder coated if I want it shipped, I told him he might want to join the boards here as he rides and has parts like fender tips and seat rails he has been selling for a while, maybe a nice addition to things if he has some hard to find parts available at good prices.

Ah, see I had been wondering if that would work, to get the vulcan 1500 seat to steal the brackets.
I am definitely going to think about buying that seat in the link, steal off the brackets and re list the set for $25.00
If that will work that is the answer fo me I think.
Thanks for the info.
I assume that those brackets attach on the seat where the two screws protrude the bottom on each side?
Its the only place they could possibly attach on the seat I have anyway that I can see.

Its been a while since I removed my 2001 solo seat off my drifter, but looking @ lumpers photo of his basepan, I do not even see the recessed where the side brackets should be mounted, nor the rubber bumpers or the holes to recieve them. Mabey I am missing something, or mabey it is not a drifter basepan?
I had the same problem with my 99. only the little bolt at the rear, no brackets. Ended up finding a cheap seat on ebay. if you can wait ebay might be an option. I paid $10 for a classic seat with the brackets! Right now this is the least expensive one I see there.
The brackets are depicted on both seats. They are on the seat pics dashed lines... no part numbers and not listed. The ones off a classic will work.. but they also have no PN.
My corbin required the same brackets.
By the way the bike looks great with the solo seat on and it is pretty comfy.
So the seat except for the brackets fits perfectly.
That larger 2-up though was more comfortable I think, I just dont care for the look of them.
Anyway forgot to mention through all this, that the end result is the seat did fit and I didnt lose out on that which was my concern in the first place.
Lump
see I dont see the L brackets in the 2 up diagram either, lol maybe I am missing it though, most likely.
But the 2up was only connected by one threaded rod that runs out of the bottom of the rear of the seat and that bolts to the black arm that you need for the two up.
Besides that one rear screw it was only on the tank washer, there were no side brackets at all.
So who knows lol maybe the guy who put this on just didnt use the brackets since the seat was so secure with only the rear screw and gas tank washer holding it.
That figures and would explain why there arent any with the bike, when I bougth the seat I knew it did not have any hardware but I didnt have access to the bike to pop off the seat and see what i was dealing with.
When Chief told me what to look for he had no way of knowing that the bike didnt have the brackets where they should be.
Anyway, so I went to a kawasaki dealer today and on Monday they are going to look at wether or not I can buy the similiar brackets for a vulcan 1500 classic or other similiar model and see if it doesnt work can it be slightly modified to work?
I also asked Corbin about it since they still sell seats that come with the brackets according to their site.
If they have brackets on their seats it would stand to reason that you shuold be able to buy the brackets.
I am sure though this will dead end or you guys would already have figured that out, lol
I know i saw someone selling them a month ago when I was browsing around.
So I get it and see why I dont have any brackets, now I need to find some.
I did talk to the guy who bought my 2-up, he should have these brackets on his bike now as he has the solo installed.
Tuesday when he can ge to his bike he is going to look and if so he is going to work out something for me either I am going to buy them or we might work out a trade for something else.
I will let you know.
in the meantime I will rig something up so I dont come out of a store to find my seat gone.
Thanks for all the help,
Lump
